This product is great fir my needs. I’m using a wifi extender in my bedroom upstairs that connects wirelessly to my main gateway. It has 1 rj45 ethernet port on it. So in my room I have an xbox series x, playstation 3 4 & 5, nintendo switch, smart tv, and a gaming pc all of which can/need internet access. This ethernet switch handles everything I throw at it. Small for having 8 ports, doesn’t make a sound, and it is truly plug and play. You plug the ethernet carrying the internet signal into one port and the other 7 split the signal. I also stream on twitch from my pc so between this and my wifi extender, they work beautifully together.

I needed to replace a 5 port gigabit ethernet switch with one that had more ports. This fit the bill completely. 8 ports, gigabit speeds, silent, energy efficient, and unmanaged all for $18. It took around two minutes to replace the switch and cabling. Network was back up and running in an instant. The metal case is attractive, rugged, and feels of good quality. I would highly recommend this to anyone that needs an 8 port gigabit switch, those that need to update their home or small office network to gigabit, or even those that simply need more ethernet ports on their mesh routers. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this switch.

I decided to change my wireless home camera set up to wired. Well, my router only has 4x 1Gbps LAN ports and I have my PC + 5 cameras at the moment.I wanted to just turn Wi-Fi off. I mean, Wi-Fi cams are so easy to hack. I’ve hacked my own and got my credentials + password. So, after having more and more neighbors move in nearby (ughhh), and knowing that I could see everything about their wireless networks, (I am a computer tech guy, I’m not naming software, but I can see who has Ring door bells, smart appliances, cameras and which routers they go to and which extenders are on that LAN).I didn’t want anyone seeing me. So, wired, here I come.I have an 8 foot ( I think ) Cat8 (don’t ask haha, family member had one) Ethernet cable going from my PC to router. That’s port 1. Then I have port 2 going from my router to the TP-Link TL-SG108 8 Port Gigabit Switch. I bought it over the 5 port because… why not? The price was there to just go for the 8 port imo. Plus, I’m gonna fill it up eventually. Then I have the other two 1Gbps ports on my router going out to a camera. Then I have 3x cameras connected to the TL-SG108 Switch. So, so far, 4x connections. 1 from the router, 3x from cameras.Ping to cameras are still <1ms, just like the ones connected directly to the router. I'm using several 30ft and a 50ft Cat 7 ethernet cables from Amazon Basics. They work perfectly. My motherboard has 2.5Gbps Ethernet, so I would have liked to have went with a 2.5Gbps switch, but then I'd also need a 2.5Gbps Ethernet router... so yeah..1Gbps it is. Plus, it was way cheaper, anyways. I can't believe how cheap it is. It feels SOLID. Heavy for its size. That is ALWAYS a positive sign in the electronics world. Light electronics are cheaply made. This is not cheap. It doesn't even get warm to the touch.I'm excited and looking for more cameras to add to it haha.Oh, and yes, it's literally plug and play. It's as if all you're doing is adding more ports to your router. There is no other set up involved. To see the devices connected to the switch, you go to your router's admin page as normal.Zero set up other than plugging in the power adapter into it and then the wall. Then just plug your ethernet cable from your router to it. Now... any ethernet devices plugged into the switch will show up on your router and, as such, your home network. I'd buy more. I WANT 2.5Gbps so I'm ready to a 2.5Gbps router, but really, I'll probably have 10Gbps Ethernet on my motherboard by then.Ya can't keep up with the latest and greatest. Besides, my cameras don't come close at all to touching 1Gbps. I use H.264 encoding and they're older. For fun, I used "jpeg" encoding to hit 70Mbps, but it handled it fine. So I went back to H.264 and only run at 15Mbps combined speed.Update: I've now added another Ethernet cable to this TL-SG108 and plugged it into my Samsung SmartTV. Again, zero issues. It's handling everything I throw at it.110% satisfied with this purchase. If I'm not careful, I'm gonna fill up all 8 ports and have to buy another one haha. Good thing my router is also powerful enough to handle all this (DIR-878). It's nothing special, but it, too, is part of the equation in handling so much data coming through the Ethernet cable that's going to the TL-SG108.I'll stop here... because I'm pretty much saying "I love it" over and over. DEFINITELY recommend it or whichever model you need with the amount of ports you need. I'd recommend future-proofing and going with the 8-port over the 5 port since you will be down 1 port from the get go since you have to plug your router into it. The price is not much more and you don't want to regret not getting the 8 port over the 5 port.BUT that depends on your needs. You may need a 5 port on one side of your house and another 5 port on the other end, I dunno. That's why I went with the 8 port... and then got some 35ft and 50ft Cat7 cables from Amazon Basics.LOVE IT!

for inexpensive and reliable network switches. I have purchased TP-Link TL-SG108 | 8 Port Gigabit Unmanaged Ethernet Network Switches over the past year for my home, my girlfriend’s home, and for a friend of hers that needed to expand the number of network ports in their home. The TP-Link switches always just work. No fancy setups needed. Just plug in the power, plug in your cables and away you go!

ded it for. It works good. There is a little bit of A lag going through the switch but I can live with it. It did what I needed so I’m happy with it. Price was good too.

f this product was incredibly simple. Ensure your main line enters into port 1 leaving 7 additional ports for any local devices that require hardline access. I currently have attached my media server, main and work computers, and console.

or my expanding office desk. This one can’t be beat for the price. I try and stay with known brands when it comes to my computer equipment. I have this set up at my home office desk because I need a lot of ethernet connectivity. I have not experienced any significant degradation of my internet signal, even though its coming into this port over a 125′ Cat6 cable run though the attic and walls. I currently have a PC, a Mac, a VOIP phone, a TV, and a printer hooked into this, and I’m adding an addition PC. Works flawlessly.I highly recommend this purchase for your basic home networking needs.

itch. It’s an unmanaged gigabit ethernet switch. That’s all there is to know about it. It works. I keep one on the truck in case I need it during an install. Sometimes I do.

price. Plugged this into my eero mesh router and saw no difference in my speeds than I was getting while plugged directly into the eero mesh router. Simply plug into your router with RJ-45 cable and plug in the power, done. Casing is solid and strong.

ceived, replaced, however, this product is awesome. Getting 700+mbps constantly, and it’s not a joke. This product is great. I have my office laptop, personal apple mac, and desktop all connected through TP-Link Deco XE5300 into this device, and I am getting this super speed. Will definitely recommend this product. The first package received was good, but the product had fingerprints and scratches on it. Since then, replaced, and no complaints.

able. About the only thing you can say about an unmanaged desktop switch is that it works as intended. If you never have to think about it then it’s perfect.

Preference. Netgear used to have a lifetime warranty on their equivalent model. The warranty was reduced and the price is higher than this TPLink. The physical quality looks the same. Time will tell how reliable it is.Here is a tip. Always keep track of your receipts and register the product to make the warranty active.

uck Mountable Switch. This switch has been in my server rack for a few months now running non stop and it has been an absolute trooper. It is unmanaged but I didn’t need it to be. It doesn’t have any fans so it is dead silent. Super fast and does not bottleneck my network at all. Easy to mount and it is plug and play. I could not ask for a better experience. 10/10 would recommend.

litter. After doing some research, I settled on the TP Link based on others reviews. It seems to handle the job without issue. The 8 port gives me future expansion and makes it less crowded around the router for now. Loving the fast speeds. Definitely recommend.

o hook 6 devices via Ethernet cables to a TP-Link Router that only had 4 inputs so I got this switch to plug everything into, then just ran one short cable between the switch and the router. Haven’t had any issues to date.

d 5 months. Not bad for $20. I was going to leave a negative review since it died on me, but then I realized that I purchased it in April of 2021. I don’t know how many terabytes of data I’ve downloaded since then, and it worked flawlessly until a couple of weeks ago. For $20, I would say it’s definitely worth it. I already purchased another one.

and It just works!. Easy to set up. Essentially, as easy to set up as a dumb hub or switch, but also gives you the added benefit of being able to manage your network if needed. Using this to connect to two different fiber connections (not at the same time), and no additional setup was needed for the switch. Just had to tweak settings on my fiber modem/routers. The web interface is simple but also pretty slick. It helps you determine the connection speeds of all attached devices. This worked out well for me, as I found a couple of devices that were connecting at slower transfer speeds than they were capable of. After configuring the slower devices to run at 1gbps, all is well. Not sure why some cards and devices don’t seem to auto negotiate to faster network speeds than others but setting the devices manually to connect at 1gpbs works just as well. The “smart” interface helped me notice and correct these issues. Overall, excellent value for the price.

network, plug and play. I installed this under my TV where my internet modem is. I needed more ethernet jacks for all the modern devices we keep right there. It was plug-and-play out of the box, worked immediately. Just plug everything in and my network was expanded. I was very pleased that I did not have to do any advanced IT work to get it going. Highly recommend.

OK, this is a simple unmanaged 8-port switch. It expands the ports on your Wi-Fi router so that you can include your NAS, Hue, Sengled and Lutron base stations, etc., on your network. Well built, slow (1gb) and reliable, this is all most of us need to expand our networks. This switch costs not much more than 4 and 5 port unmanaged switches and gives you more ports and a really top-notch build quality for the price. I’m not overly concerned about bandwidth of throughput. If you are, you probably aren’t looking at this switch anyway.

is is as simple as simple can be in the tech world. Needed more Ethernet ports because the newest routers have reduced the ports available. Connect one Ethernet cable to your router and the other end to this stitch and you’ve made 7 more Ethernet ports available. This is an unmanaged switch so it has no accessible software. It just works. The loss of 1 star is because the power plugs into the front while the Ethernet cables plug into the back. It should be in the back with the other cables. The pilot light should be in the front. I probably call the front the back and the back the front but this is a desktop device. I don’t want all the cables facing me so I turn the unit “backwards” and have the Ethernet cables face the back of the desk.
