The old computer died but the monitor did not. The new computer didn’t come with a monitor, and I had no reason to buy one. The old monitor is VGA, but the new computer doesn’t have a VGA port. For a few bucks, this solved the problem.Luckily, I realized the problem by reading the specs when ordering the computer and ordered the cable as well. The cable arrived before the computer, so I was good to go on day one. The other way around would have been disappointing!

I had a small 14 in dell thought I could make use of using this device. the device worked fine. its just that the Moread device resolution was lower than my old dell screen put out, and using it caused my 2nd screen to display same low resolution, so I returned it. I think it only diplayed 800×600 so was a no go for how I use my computers. I work online and that resolution did not cut it .

Good price. Came fast. Small. Works fine for older VGA monitor and Win10-PC laptop on the HDMI out. All good.With MacOS laptop using the HDMI out the same monitor shows up correctly but only for a second in Displays and then is not present for selection. I’ve used the VGA monitor as an extension for the MacOS laptop with a different adapter so don’t know.

How do you marry an old monitor to a new computer? Get one of these, where applicable. It worked like a charm and made me so happy! t. The item came in early and it appeared to be what was pictured. I ordered the wrong item because I didn’t look at one of the ends to notice that it would not fit into my laptop, so it was a user error. I needed the end that was like a USB. I still rated it 5 stars b/c again the product looked like it did on the website. I didn’t bother to return it because it probably would have cost me just as much to return it as the product itself.

d low resolutions. I got this device as my old VGA-equipped laptop died, leaving a stranded CRT. Reading some other reviews, it appears that faulty models are sometimes sent out, but I got lucky with a good build.Low Resolution:I immediately tested out 640×480 at 60Hz. Works perfectly, as does 640×240 at 120Hz. Though it does appear that lower resolutions than that are not transmitted if they are ever needed.High Resolution:Unfortunately, all resolutions with a 960 image height and above seem to have a sort of fuzziness/noise that appears like over-sharpening of the image. In addition, there’s the obvious refresh rate constraint at 60Hz for 1080p images.The final verdict is that it’s a good cheap option if your needs fit within this window. However, if you wish for high quality higher resolution images, it’s best to look elsewhere.
