This is nothing unusual in carburetor cleaners, it works as it should, and works well. What is important to me about this purchase is that the initial delivery went awry somewhere, was left outside a public entrance to the apartments where I live and disappeared with the wind. I performed a thorough and diligent search and when that didn’t turn it up, I used the Amazon automated customer service to report that I hadn’t received the product. They immediately, and without further question, replaced the items in the order. I was impressed.

My wood chipper wood start come springtime, this is the first year I tried leaving gas in with stabilizer. Figured that must have clogged my carborator. Bought this and it came quickly. Used it to clean a moderately dirty carborator. The nozzle and straw works well with good variable flow control.It was honestly very satisfying to use this stuff, put the straw in one hole of the carb and gunk gysers out of other holes. I guess that means you should wear eye protection. Does not smell too bad, a clean acetone alcohol smell. It just blows grime off immediately, and mostly dries in 30 seconds. Best way to describe the fun: it’s instant anti-spray paint spray. Anyway, carborater was squeaky clean but still couldn’t get to start. Turns out there wasn’t as much gas left in my tank as I thought when I put the stabilizer (design flaw that it’s so hard to tell) so the stabilizer ratio was way too high.

This carb cleaner is a must to keep around in the garage, not just for cranky carburetors (who has carburetors any more?), but also for most engine parts, brakes, electrical contacts, corroded bolts and screws, and much more. Anywhere you need a solvent, Gumout will usually do the job for you.As for carbs, remember your lawn equipment still has them, so if your mower or chainsaw or edger or blower gets hard to start or doesn’t run right, try spraying the fuel system parts with Gumout. It’s not magic, but almost, and even if requires some disassembly or some work with a brush or rag, it’s still one of the best cleaners and solvents out there.Get you some!

I always keep a can of gumout in my garage as it it great for cleaning out stuck needle and seats in carburetors and removing old gummed up gasoline from fuel injectors. Also comes in handy to remove oil stains from concrete and cleaning glue off of metal surfaces. The aeresol can makes it easy to spray in tight areas too.

When I told a machine shop mechanic that especially for the last mowing of the season, I drained the carburetor by mowing the last few strips of lawn with the fuel oil valve switched closed until the mower sputtered to a stop, he said he never does that, and just sprays carburetor cleaner into the air intake and it always starts right up. He’ll even spray it through the air filter. So last season with our 1-year old toddler as an excuse, I didn’t remember to empty the carburetor through the winter. Come March and April my mower wouldn’t start up. I panicked and bought this stuff and ran across the street to the lawn service working on our neighbor’s lawn. They came over to my mower, and first opened the air filter and it was absolutely brown and dusty. Knocking the dust off on their boot, they left it off and sprayed this stuff into the hole where the air intake filter was removed, not even bothering to use the little straw. Then after a few big pulls of the cord, it started up without the air filter on. Then he shut it off, put the filter back on, and tried again. It took another few pulls, but the mower started up with the filter on too. At that point I let it run with the fuel valve turned close until the carburetor emptied. Next day the mower started OK (this is all with old gas from last season), and I put fresh gas in and changed the oil, and we’re in good shape for the season. Glad this stuff and the lawn service next door saved me and my mower!
