As the headline states, it really might be. I’ve had it a little over a month now and honestly couldn’t be happier. At a price point of 500-600, this is totally worth it. Recently upgraded from a 1440p BenQ gaming monitor and it’s a huge difference. Was looking for a monitor that I could use for color accurate work with my Macbook, but also something that I could use to get the most out of my Series X. It’s a bit tricky to find something to do both well, but this is the best I have come across. Color gamut is great and very accurate out of the box with a calibration report. Using a monitor calibrator isn’t necessary, but fine tunes it even more if you need to.The selection of ports is really nice, OSD is simple enough, brightness is more than enough (especially compared to other LED gaming monitors), HDR is better than other monitors within this category (HDR 600). Overall the panel is nice and crisp with excellent picture quality no matter what you’re doing. The matte coating isn’t TOO strong and doesn’t degrade the picture quality nearly as much as others.I tried the BenQ EX3210u and one of the LG monitors that’s comparable and this came out a clear winner for a lot of different reasons (despite the BenQ advertising wider P3 gamut coverage).Yes, OLED monitors are going to be superior to this – but that jumps you into a different category all together (including price, which is literally double the cost of this). This also looks the sleekest out of the gaming monitors – no dragons or unicorn vomit on the back of unit which makes it suitable for professional settings as well.Overall – get it. Especially if you need it to do more than just game on it and need color accuracy. No risk of burn in compared to OLED, color accurate, great gaming experience for consoles, sleek design and a 3 year replacement warranty from Dell. At this price point, certainly the best value on the market.

I picked up Dell’s S3422DWG back in March, and have been putting it through its paces ever since. It’s my primary media device for games, movies, and photo editing, and I’m here to share my impressions of the monitor after the better part of a year.I picked up the S3422DWG for $380 to replace my aging Acer X34, as my latest build used an AMD GPU instead of the previous Nvidia, requiring a FreeSync device. I was immediately struck by how good the blacks looked compared to my old IPS: deep without all the old panel’s backlight bleed. This higher contrast really enhances all of the media I throw at this monitor. I’m incredibly sensitive to motion blur, and I really can see the difference in responsiveness between an older 100Hz panel and a newer 1434Hz one. While VAs supposedly have worse viewing angles, I don’t ever hit a real-world use case where I’ve noticed this. The curve is a bit more severe than I’m used to, but after a week my brain adjusted to it.The OSD is much nicer than my Acer with a few flaws. You get a joystick that can be depressed to open the OSD, with four buttons that can be mapped to menu items. Sadly the response time menu is not an option, so turning on strobing requires a menu dive each time. But overall quite functional and intuitive. So what about the dreaded black smearing? Early VA panels were panned for gaming due to dark content having a much worse response time than IPS displays, creating black smears during game movement. I’m happy to report that this monitor does not strongly exhibit this behavior on “Super Fast” response time. I do see a bit of dark content smearing with strobing turned on in games, where the ultra-responsiveness exposes anything but the fastest response times. But this is generally minimal, unless you have something like black text on a white sign.Let’s talk to strobing. Compared to previous strobing monitors I’ve tried, I’m happy to report that the S3422DWG maintains very strong brightness with strobing (which it calls MPRT) turned on. Cross-talk varies depending on where you look on the screen. The center has very good coherency, the bottom is good in this regard, and the top of the screen exhibits noticeable strobe cross-talk. This means that strobing is viable in games where you’re not fixing your gaze on the top third of the screen (such as Witcher 3) and not very good in games where you’re looking all over the screen at any time (e.g., Diablo 4). Overall it’s a nice perk, but not a universally reliable one.The last caveat for this screen is that reviewers have panned it for flickering with GSync under 60Hz, which could be a deal-breaker for NVidia users.Overall, this monitor is incredibly strong for its price point ($350 at the time of this review) for users who want to watch media, edit, or play games with an ultra-wide aspect ratio for AMD users. I recommend it as a gorgeous bargain panel.

COLORS. The monitor is good for gaming. However for desktop use the colors are extremely washed out. If you don’t care about that then go for it. I don’t like dull colors even for normal use. Not when I’ve spent $400+ on a monitor. It has 3 HDR settings, Desktop, Game and HDR400. None of those settings made an ounce of difference. It was my first VA panel so I don’t know if all VA panels have this issue or is it more pronounced with this model. I for one will NOT be picking up any VA monitor after this.In ‘game presets’ the MOBA/RTS preset was the only one that made a slight difference, but only just.Apart from colors, I experienced random flickering even during normal desktop use.Final nail in the coffin was when the screen started to turn off every few seconds when I turned any HDR setting ON.Packed it up and returned it.

neer. I’m a software engineer and purchased this for development. My work laptop will do, at most, 3440×1440 120hz. It works great and looks pretty 🙂 For writing code, this monitor works quite well.I’d definitely recommend it for purchase.

lap top? How I got my Dell 34 UWS to work perfectly. First off – this monitor is amazing. BUT when I plugged it in via HDMI from my Lenovo Thinkpad the resolution was unbearable. This is the same problem with any UWS HD monitor especially if you are using it for work (which I am). I searched countless articles and videos on how to resolve and nothing worked but I figured out the solution so I’m saving others my pain. First my laptop is corp issued, under powered and locked down to the point that I can’t download .exe drivers. To fix the problem I bought a Startech.com Display port adaptor which has a small GPU installed in it to increase the resolution (about $100 on Amazon). Out of the box the Startech solved the problem but I did have to install the Display port driver from Displayport.com, and thankfully display port offers 3 different formats for the driver including .MSI which bypassed my .exe block on my corp computer. The monitor works perfectly and is totally game changing. So if you are stuck trying to drive it with an old or underpowered laptop get yourself the adaptor – was literally plug and play out of the box with the driver install and the monitor is perfect.

screws found loose inside. So I got this open box after I returned a similar LG monitor with the same specs. Lemme tell ya, this is waaaaay better than the LG monitor. The Lg whined so loudly when the brightness was up. Amazon was unwilling to assist in the matter so I just returned it and bought this one open box. So if you’re stuck between the comparable LG and this, GET THIS.It is in great shape, minus 2 screws loose on the inside rolling around making a hck of a noise. I removed those by popping the back panel off on one side to ensure the screen didn’t self destruct someday. This is definitely due to the previous owner tampering with it and forgetting to reinsert all of the screws….I feel if Amazon took care of their workers more, things like this wouldn’t slip by so much. Have had the worst luck with Amazon orders recently and that’s on them, but after removing the screws, this dell monitor is the bees knees. I’m willing to take the defective screen on for now. You guys need to do better. This holiday season has been a nightmare here.

buy this monitor. I bought this monitor after researching ultrawides to use for warzone. Let me just save you the time, buy this monitor. HDR ultrawide warzone is beautiful. The colors are vibrant and the darks are deep. I’m using a 6800 xt and have no tearing and run at about 140 frames. IMO there isn’t a better value on the market right now.

reat price. It is exactly as I expected. It comes at a cheaper price than the new q-oled or even ips ultrawides, but as a VA panel it comes with the usual problems. If you know what you are ordering and find the tradeoffs acceptable, this is a spectacular monitor. I would buy it again for gaming and content consumption in a heartbeat.

e. Replacing a 42-inch 2K Fire TV that I used as monitor. I am not really a gamer, mostly I use it for work. So far, I regret the decision and it’s not because of any issue with the monitor (maybe one … more on that later).I thought the Ultrawide would allow me to work more effectively …. however, it’s much smaller than to old TV. I used to be able to work without my readers. The type face on this is so small, I need to wear readers. If I expand the font, then the lack of space become apparent. It appears to be a nice piece of equipment, but the simple fact is that did not know what I was buying in to.The only issue, this is an ultra0wide and very modern. I work from home and use my company’s Dell laptop. The driver loaded is for generic monitors and it does not recognize the wide aspect. Getting the driver has been a bit of a pain. It will happen but something to think about if you are going this route. In any case I own it now and need to make it work. Will update here as I go forward.

rawide. I moved from a dual (1 IPS 27 2k and 1 IPS 24 4k) panel setup to this panel and the 4k 24in vertically next to it. This panel does have more washed out colors than the IPS panels, but the darks are SOOOOO nice and crisp, it makes up for any color loss, i love it! Also the ‘expected’ VA smearing is so well handled it does not bother at all in gaming, and I play Star Citizen, which is mostly in dark space areas. I have mine set to ‘very fast’ per what reviews recommend and what my own testing also showed to be the best setting. People who say once you go wide-screen you cant go back were not lying, it is an awesome experience, especially for immersive games like star citizen. I kept the 24in 4k in a vertical orientation next to the ultra-wide to be a ‘accessory’ screen for things like discord and obs while I’m gaming. I watched a lot of reviews ahead of purchasing this panel and they were all helpful in selecting this over others, i’m ultra happy with my decision on this ultra-wide 🙂

st returned this monitor, as the picture quality was garbage when gaming, with significant blurring and color bleed/smearing with any kind of motion at all. It took me a while to realize that this monitor’s response time just isn’t good and doesn’t work well with Freesync. So, I enabled MPRT for the response time, which automatically disabled Freesync (as it should), and all those above problems went away. With my current GPU I get 85-100fps running with the 144Hz refresh rate, and don’t experience any screen tearing at all, and with MPRT enabled it’s a very smooth experience. I’d expect with my upgraded GPU (on order) that I’ll get near 144fps to match the refresh rate and it will improve all that much more. I don’t know if this experience was specific to me and my build, but just sharing my experience for any out there struggling with the advertised quality of this monitor.

deal!. I got it on Prime Day for a pretty good discount. Primary use is gaming and so far it has delivered. I do use it for work and depending on resolution sometimes people on zoom complain everything looks stretched out when I’m sharing my screen.Great value for money overall.. especially if you can score a deal.

h my MacBook pro retina mod 2014. Works and looks excellent. Easy to ensemble and made of good plastic materials.I have an old MacBook pro retina display mid 2014 and worked perfectly. It is very bright at 100% brightness which is good. I usually use it 5% brightness during the night and around 60% during the day next to a sort of bright window and I don’t have any issues with the sunlight coming from outside. It comes with all the HDMI cables that you need. But since I was not sure if it was work with my old MacBook, I got a display port to HDMI cable and it has been working perfectly.

ht scent. It tastes well. You can taste the subtle aroma that this type of tea often has, but it doesn’t have a strong aroma wafting out. I was suggested to pour all water out and start with the second by one of my co-workers. I shared some with him and he liked it (he is a huge tea person).

le problems. Up front, I’m not a gamer. I bought this to use for work from home, and for recording (Reaper). It was to replace a pair of 27″ Acer CB2’s (IPS). The extra horizontal pixel real estate is great, as is the curve, which is really easy to get used to. The extra width makes displaying two windows side by side really intuitive and really cuts down on needing to resize or scroll either horizontally. I’m totally sold on this size, resolution and the curve. It took me about 5 minutes to realize there’s no going back – though this particular monitor went back, more on that in a minute. While I love the size and format, this monitor was initially a bit of a let down for my intended use. The VA panel is much more washed out and inconsistent off axis, and it’s quite noticeable next to an IPS panel. Note- understanding this is the nature of the panel technology, and that curved IPS monitors are currently offered at a much higher price point, I’m not deducting stars for this. I just feel it’s important to point out for anyone else considering replacing an existing IPS 16:9 monitor with this. If you’re not going to use it SxS with an IPS monitor, this might not be as big of an issue for you. It gets plenty bright and the contrast and sharpness are good enough for office use.The first thing that did cost a star was VESA mounting. If you intend to mount it a VESA mount, the depth of the mounting plate makes this exceptionally difficult. It’s recessed deeper than any monitor I’ve ever seen. It appears this is purely for aesthetic reasons to make the stock stand integrate into the weird super deep ribbed design of the back of the monitor. The mounts I have are made by Humanscale with a quick release plate which won’t work with this deep mounting design. I had to attach the whole arm with the plate attached, then fit it to the post/clamp assembly. Mind you this is a big heavy monitor, so it’s quite difficult to do. If the arms of my monitor didn’t separate from the desk clamp easily, this would have been a two-person job.Another star was lost with the menu and controls. The multiple buttons and joy stick thingy on the back right edge just plain suck. While you can assign functions to the individual buttons, I could never seem to hit the right one for it to be useful at all. It’s just a bunch of buttons on the back of the monitor that I can’t see. One or two buttons and a joystick might work, but any more than three is madness. I would nearly always hit the wrong button causing it to switch to an input other than what I wanted or on which there was no signal- which means you have to wait for it to register this before you can correct your mistake, which is just exasperating. Also the the edge location of the controls means that if you have a multi monitor setup, you can’t get to the controls that abut another monitor on that edge without swiveling one of the monitors- and note that the supplied stand doesn’t swivel. Many LG monitors have a single joy stick control on the bottom center of the monitor which is way more useful for multi-monitor setup. The remaining stars were lost due was an annoying issue with the supplied HDMI cable (: It kept blanking periodically for 5-10 seconds. I tried several quality certified cables and still experienced the issue- with both an HP Elitebook and a Lenovo T470 (both in docking stations). I also had issues with the Display Port too: Coming out of hibernate, I had to power cycle the monitor and mess with Display Properties in Windows 10 to get it to work – EVERY time. The final straw which caused me to pack it up and return it was a 3/8″ streak of bad / burned pixels in the center of the screen.I ended up sending it back and bought a pair of 35″ LG 35WN65C-B’s, which I’m much happier with. They’re also VA panels, but the colors seem a little less muted, and the off-axis presentation is a little more even. The mounting point is much shallower and works with my mounts, the picture is warmer, and the inputs are much easier to access; For the life of me, I don’t understand why monitor manufacturers think it’s good product design to hide the inputs upside-down where they’re completely invisible with the monitor in normal upright orientation, and only providing tiny embossed black on black labels which you simply cannot read without a bright flashlight. The LG’s are straight in on the back, about half way up, where you can see the orientation and location of the port (even if the labels are still nearly invisible). The external DC power brick also means a lighter monitor on the arm and easier, cleaner cable routing from the monitor to the back of the desk.
