Love my label maker. Perfect for all kinds of places.

Works perfectly. Directions are easy to understand. I would recommend using the labels with the split back. They’re easier to peel.

Only complaint I have about this labeler is that the contract, even when turned up as high as can be set, is still not as good as I would like. And I just had cataract surgery so I know I can see pretty well

I bought this to label my nail polish swatch sticks. I have too many, I know I have a problem lol. This printer was fun to use for the whole process. The variable fonts were nice to choose from and I liked that it kept your text from the previous print. I didn’t like how large of a gap it left before and after each print. I ended up printing the label for each polish all in one strip and cutting them myself so it didn’t waste the tape. Removing the backing to the tape was very easy, too. It was split down the middle so all you had to do was fold it lengthwise and you could grab the strip. Way better than having to separate it from the edge. No regrets here!

I recently purchased the **Brother P-Touch Label Maker PT-D220**, and it has quickly become one of my favorite tools for organizing my home and office! This **thermal, inkless printer** produces clear, professional-looking labels effortlessly. The setup was straightforward, and I was labeling items within minutes of unboxing. The interface is user-friendly, with a well-designed keypad and a clear display that makes it easy to navigate through different fonts, styles, and symbols. I especially love the variety of label sizes and formats available, which allow me to customize labels for everything from file folders to pantry containers. The adhesive on the labels is strong, ensuring they stick well and last without peeling off. I’ve used it for both indoor and outdoor labeling, and it has held up beautifully in various conditions.Battery life is impressive, and the option to use it with AC power is a great plus for prolonged labeling sessions. Whether you need to organize your workspace or add a personal touch to gifts, this label maker does it all.Overall, I highly recommend the **Brother P-Touch PT-D220** for anyone looking for a reliable and versatile label maker. It’s a fantastic investment for home organization and office efficiency!

I purchased a plug in outlet because who has time for batteries to die on them while hard at work label making and I just want to say I also purchased the hard case brother brand to store it all in and I finally learned how to store it correctly

  8. Jeanie Reidhar

Brother never lets me down when it comes to Office Equipment. I just wished I had seen that you could order the power supply instead of just using batteries It takes six AAA batteries and seems to pull them down very quickly Other than that, this is a great little machine

    Jeanie Reidhar

  9. J Hardy

It’s a little heavier than I expected but the labels are clear and concise and very easy to use.

  10. Knexkidkrazy

I was able to use immediately. takes 6 AAA batteries so make sure you have them. Easy to read display, scrolling thru the menu for set up is easy. Great product!

I like but wished the screen was brighter I can barely see the letters. But it works great.

  12. Francesco01

A great small, convenient and efficient label printer. I used it to labeled all my separate tool equipment cases, since they are up in a shelf and it’s hard to remember what tool is in what. Of course it has other uses. I purchased a set of different color labels. Used different colors for different applications. So far it has worked great. Thanks

This is the fourth one that I have owned over many many years. I have them in different locations for different uses. This one is nice and the only mild criticism is the display is not as clear to read as in the older models. Still solid quality like all the Brother products.

  14. Anita Dittig

I had been on the search for a new label maker to use in my craft room. My other Brother one died. I had had it for many years. I looked at the reviews on this item and I did read that the display was not that great. I do have to agree that I wish the display worked better. Overall I like the machine and it suits my needs.

  15. Mauve

Straight out of the box, I have so many labels to make. So convenient for my refrigerated glass containers which adheres in the cold storage. Essential oils glass bottles and so on and so on. Easy to use, great value for price.I’d recommend.

  16. Honest reviewer.

First one I got wasn’t good. Sent it back and got another. This one worked well. I think the product works well and it’s made organization and labeling much easier. What I dislike is the lack of cute ones available for the USA. They had one that is hello kitty themed but it’s in Japanese. You can choose English but honestly it seems like a hassle if you press the wrong button and suddenly have a bunch of characters you don’t understand 😅 I like that this one is white and it’s easy to apply cute stickers to theme it ourselves. But it still doesn’t beat the cute hello kitty themed ones out there 😔 I mean why have basic when you can choose cute? Or other themes. It makes it more fun and pretty to lay around.Other than that it has cute symbols to make your labels less boring and different fonts/sizing.

    Honest reviewer.

Exactly what you expect in a label maker. Has some cool features. If your not technical savy you might have trouble going thru the menus for fonts/ sizes and/or symbols but once you figure it out. I usually use the same for everything. Loading cartridges is easy enough. But batteries seem to not last long. Maybe you’ll have to get an AC adaptor or stronger lasting batteries. Otherwise it is very good product worth the money.

This label maker is great, really simple and easy to use. Really customizable as well, I adjusted my labels to fit perfectly on the products I’m working with.

  19. Kevin Klear

I use this for my garage and drawer labeling. Is works great and the label cartridge and use ulis easy and care free. I bought the power cord to aid in long or extended use as 6 AAA batteries are needed if you don’t have it. Can get expensive if always on batteries use.

  20. Marcoguy

I used this Bother Label printer right out of the box. Just had to load the label cartridge which was super easy. Only complaint is I wish they sold the printer with the power cord. But the label printer worked as advertised, and changing the Font Size was very easy.

My only dislike is the waist of tape has limited adjustments, wish it could be better, otherwise it’s pretty handy. I use it alot.

  22. Carol B.

Product works fine. What gives it two stars is that the LED screen is very dim and hard to read. I tried the 3 different contrast settings to no avail.

  23. Corey

All around it’s a pretty great label maker. The tape is easy to come by and is sold in bulk at a good price. The screen can be a little hard to read in really bright environments but otherwise very good.It takes 6 AAA batteries. Yes, 6. Or your can use a 9v power cord, but it’s not included and needs to be bought separately. If you power it by battery (what I’m doing) the batteries do last a long time in the printer. I’ve gone through 3 tape cassettes all on one set of batteries and no sign to change them soon. There’s tons on fonts and boarders you can do to the labels all with the same regular tape. Personally I use only the standard font but there are many options to choose. For the environmentally conscious:Now, this might be a 50/50 for you. The tape need to be printed on is plastic. Packaged in a special plastic cassette. After you print you need to peel the paper-plastic off the adhesive backing. Also inside that tape cassette, each time you print the tape has an ink side that does the printing and rolls up on the other end of the cassette like a VHS. So about 10-30% of the ink is used to print, the rest is unusable waste neatly rolled on the inside of the cassette. Very sneaky way to get us to buy more tape.

Ok, to be honest, I didn’t read the directions first…and I screwed up. After following the easy to follow directions, everything worked well. Clear printing…can make duplicates easily too.

  25. ADM

This label maker works great but I have one complaint and that is that the display is so hard to see. I contacted Brother about that and they provide me with two models that are backlit. They cost more but I might get one of those in the future.

Great labeling machine that is easy to use and get instant results! Several fonts to choose from.

From Brother.com – here is what I found out about the screen.Adjust the LCD contrast! To adjust the LCD contrast:1. Adjust the contrast setting:a. Press Menu.b. Press ◄ or ► to select LCD Contrast.c. Press OK and the current setting is displayed.d. Press ◄ or ► to select the contrast setting. There are five settings: -2, -1, 0, +1, +2.e. Press OK to set the contrast.- If the LCD is difficult to read, go to the next step.2. Since the label printer does not have a backlight, the angle of the label printer and the lighting conditions can affect how well the display can be viewed. For optimum viewing, place the label printer on a flat surface and view the display at a 45-degree angle.3. New out of the box label printers have a protective film on the display that needs to be removed. Removing the film slightly improves the display’s contrast and brightness.a. Using your fingertips or fingernails, separate the protective film from the LCD display from the top right or left corner.b. Pull the Mylar protective film completely away from the display to expose the smooth finished surface. Discard the protective film.3. If the contrast was better but now it is harder to read, try printing a label to test if the batteries are low. The LCD can be difficult to read when the batteries are low.4. If the LCD is still difficult to read with brand new batteries, you may wish to purchase a label printer with a backlight LCD.So, for me it was first, remove the mylar tape on the screen. I did not notice that there was something on the screen itself. Then I followed up with the LCD contrast and it made a big difference. I wish I had purchased one with a backlight screen but did not realize that was an option. All in all, I will say that this is a nice label printer.

I am almost 64 years old and was able to used it after reading the instructions. It arrived today and once I checked the instructions and became familiar with the item was a breeze to start printing labels. The screen is not that big but, in comparison with other office’s tools it is standard. With more practice I feel comfortable that I will make good use of it. Downside is that the power cord is not included with the item and you have to order one (highly recommended if you’re intending to use the label printer frequently.

Like other reviewers have mentioned, the display is rather faint and could be unreadable in poor lighting. I use an AC adapter (sold separately), so it’s not a low battery issue. I purchased the item knowing this might be an issue and find it usable, but if you have poor eyesight or need to use it in low light conditions, it could be a bigger issue. Otherwise the item works fine and prints labels as expected. I like the keyboard style/layout and enjoy having the different font options. I purchased the item on sale, so the cost was close to lower priced models while having more features.

It’s addicting for disorganized people like me. Despite the poor display and lack of an all-clear button, I like it a lot. Build quality is good and a feels great in the hand and in use.I tired to use Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries, but the unit worked only minutes. The first set of alkaline AAs are still good after I labelled everything I could. The included label spool has not run out.I bought a narrow (about 1/4 inch) black label spool. The white print looks great on black AV equipment.

I just wanted to comment on two things I was looking to find out when I was reading comments. Yes, the label maker comes with a cartridge of white TZe tape with black lettering so you can get started. I don’t believe it is a full roll but I’ve been able to make at least 30 labels so far so I’m happy and didn’t need to buy tape with the purchase of the machine. Shown in the photo is the tape it came with and the battery compartment for the 3 AAA batteries. I purchased a plug because the plug was <$10 and I will never need to worry about batteries running out. Batteries aren't cheap either. In addition, several people commented that the screen is hard to read. I don't find it hard to read at all. If you aren't at the right angle you can't read it but when you adjust your angle, it is VERY readable. I took a photo but with the camera light, it made it harder to see that when not trying to take a photo.I'm very happy with my purchase. This works just as it should.

I have always dreamed of owning a label maker. Finally decided to go for it and oh my goodness gracious I am so happy with this purchase I could cry. High quality, tons of options, easy to use… and just the most fun in the world. I’m a happy camper.

At first I had a problem with the batteries, it wouldn’t turn on for 2 days but I kept taking them out and putting them back in until it finally turned on and it works great! Love it for labelling my refillable travel size perfume atomizers, I have a lot of perfumes and never knows which smell is in which bottle so this helps tremendously! Very affordable too! Definitely recommend! 👍🏽

My label maker works flawlessly and just as advertised. It allows you to choose different fonts, symbols, and frames. Labels print out clearly, quickly, and seem water resistant. I would just pay attention and be careful with the setup process. Once you carefully click in your cassette inside and put in batteries, you’re ready to go! Simple yet so useful.

I’ve used this model for years at work and finally got one for home!! LOVE IT!! P-Touch is really the best one out there. Simple, cost effective, and holds up to years of use!

I bought this for my nail dip swatches, and it’s perfect. Easy to use. Lots of possibilities with this quick little printer.

Horrendous screen. I saw some reviews saying the screen was bad, but I didn’t think it was *this* bad. You may want to look at other options if you don’t have good eyesight. The plastic screen cover also scratches incredibly easily. I’ve had mine for less than a week and it’s already got mysterious scuffs on it.Otherwise, it’s fine. I needed labels, this prints labels.By default it puts huge margins on the labels, and when I reduced the margins to “minimal” it still leaves a huge margin on one side. Could be user error?Doesn’t come with batteries or a power brick. Wish it just had USB-C power. It’s 2024.

I have owned two of these p-touch label makers. Some how we have misplaced our old one so when we needed a new one I went straight for the brother one. This one has more options than my other one. They work great. Lots of templates and fonts. Great for labeling all kinds of stuff. I am a very organized person so I like to label things. I would highly recommend it.

  39. J. Miller

This is a good basic label maker with lots of graphics available. The only real complaint is that it does not ship with a 9V power cord. So unless you already have 6 AAA batteries on hand when you open the box, it is a paperweight until you get batteries or go back to Amazon for a 9V power supply. This seemed like a very cheap cost-cutting measure from Brother to not include a power cord.

    J. Miller

Lot’s of nice features. Labels turn out fast, clean and sharp. Good variety in fonts. The label adhesive isn’t very strong so be sure surfaces are very vlean. Use something like isopropyl alcohol to clean.
