The joystick dead on arrival. The joystick has a defect that user can not fix with the tightening tool that came with it. However, Amazon made good on the return.

I have been using the Cyberpunk 2077 special edition Xbox controller since a couple of months before Cyberpunk came out, and was beginning to have a double button push when I played Star Wars Jedi Survivor. It was irritating to die over and over, because I got a double jump instead of a single jump. So, on the advice of a friend, I ordered the Xbox Series 2 controller. I went all in and got the Elite version with the back paddles and charging case. I plugged it into my USB hub overnight and used it the next day. It kept disconnecting. Mistake 1 – my hub evidently doesn’t put out enough power to charge it, so I had to plug directly into my PC. Skip my pain and just use a PC USB port. All is good, right? Mistake 2 – This one is for everyone that hasn’t used one of these controllers. Download the Microsoft Accessories App from the app store. It allows you to customize the buttons, and I mean all the buttons. You can change everyone of them, if you want to. So, I put the LB and RB on the front paddles and removed the back paddles, for now. Everything is working great, after another overnight charge. It is actually useful to read the manual on this one. GASP! Yes, I did! That is probably 5 manuals in 40 years! It helped me make sure I got everything set up exactly the way I wanted it. You can have 3 different active profiles in the software, and many more that can be moved in if you need them. You will need to plug in to set them up. I recommend using a different color light for each one, so you know which profile is loaded. You can also change the light intensity and feedback to save battery life, if you need to hit that 40 hours between charges. I increased the tension on the sticks using the included tool (small flathead screwdriver), because I like them to have a bit of weight to them.I really like this controller. It is heavier than my old one and can recharge while it is plugged in, unlike the old one, which has removable battery packs, but does not charge. The only issue I have is the grips are a bit slippery, which will probably improve after I play with sweaty, sticky hands a few times. This controller should last me quite a few years, the way I use it. I use a mouse/keyboard most of the time, except for those console ports that just don’t transfer that well. The Elite is a bit pricey, but if you don’t want the back paddles or charging case, you can always go with the Core controller. It is the same controller without the extras, but all the functionality.

Wired? This thing rules. No problems. No complaints. But wireless? It’s the first XBOX controller I’ve ever used that intermittently drops out. The connection comes back after a couple seconds. It HAS to be the same Bluetooth module that’s in all of the other XBOX controllers, right? It’s annoying. The quality and feel of the controller are awesome. I love the weight. The ability to quickly add rear paddles and swap thumbstick profiles is cool. I do this more than I figured I would. I figured I’d set it up once, and then it’d be how I like it. But different games benefit from different control configurations.

Ill admit i like how the controller feels so far seems responsive and feels great in the hand a couple issues came up though for one im missing a back paddle didnt even come with my controller just came with a missing paddle ive waited a while to get the controller so i dont want to wait more time to get a whole other controller just to get a missing piece second thing is the tool to adjust the thumbsticks it bent from me baerly even applying preassure but other then that the controller itself is hood

This is my second Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, and for good reason. After trying many budget brands that just end up with some random problem after a month or two I finally just spent real money on something good. My first one failed after a year and a half with a faulty Right Bumper button and unfortunately it was out of warranty. I bought this one with a warranty and recommend anyone else to do the same, it has a high failure rate and for what you pay it’s worth a few bucks. The controller itself is very hefty but the buttons feel amazing, the triggers especially. I really enjoy the modular design of some of the parts, I just wish the bumpers also came off easy.

I bought this Elite Series 2 Core because my Elite Series 2 quit working (basically said it was connected, but buttons wouldn’t register touch) and because R E D. I was skeptical at first because I watched a few reviews, and had some nitpicky dislikes like the build and material of the face and back plates not being the heavy duty rubberized plastic or whatever. After using it frequently, it is still a pretty durable controller compared to the higher end Elite Series 2 and I have grown fond of it. I’m very happy with the snappy input response lack of stick drift, and just overall performance. Would I recommend it? I absolutely would… BUT, it depends if people would be okay with knowing it’s the cheaper version, and owning it.

I like that it has so many customizable features. It can be used wireless or corded during play.

Purchased this because I got used to using the back buttons on the dualsense edge. This was a big upgrade compared to the standard Xbox controller. This controller though has more options than the edge that I kind of liked. You can adjust the analogs to be more loose or tight & you get the extra 2 buttons for like X / Y buttons. The one thing I gotta get used to is the grips. I feel like I have to re-grip a lot.

I was always skeptical about getting an elite controller and paying so much money but this version of the controller is so much more affordable and you get the same amazing controller. This is truly the best controller out there right now.

The rubberized grip makes a huge difference when playing for several hours. This is much more comfortable than the standard xbox controller, the PS5 controller, or the Nintendo Switch Pro controller. It is expensive but Microsoft brand controllers last forever, so it is a solid investment. I also prefer charging the controller using a USB-C cable vs using rechargeable batteries.

I love this controller. I love the extra buttons and especially the trigger locking. If you play Xbox or PC(Which is what I use it for) this is worth the money. comes with a nice case with a charger inside and storage for spare bumpers and sticks. It also comes with a tool to increase the resistance of the control sticks I also love that on PC you can set the jewel button to change color, dim the light, or even turn it off completely. The controller also has these nice rubbery grips on the sides which helps during intense gaming. I’ve had zero issues with connectivity or lagging while wireless. All in all, well worth the purchase.

If you have the Xbox elite controller series 2 than you already know this the best Xbox controller just in red! It does not come with any accessories like the case or paddles but you can use your old series 2 accessories with it.

When I purchased this, I thought that the configuration software would allow me to assign short macros to make it easier to execute commands that require multiple button presses or button combinations. Unfortunately, the software doesn’t allow that, which substantially reduces the usefulness of the extra buttons for me.The customization of the sticks and buttons is great, and the hardware feels solid overall. Adjusting the stick sensitivity curve is fantastic for dialing in your aim. My only gripe on the hardware is that I do feel like my A & X button presses are sometimes not acknowledged. I only seem to notice it in menus though, so it’s hard to say if it’s the controller or the game.

Love the way this feels in the hand. Feels solid. The colors are striking and having a rechargeable battery is a must. Being able to customize the triggers is nice but not something I need very often. Overall, love it and the price point is better than the one that comes with paddles and a case.

This was a replacement to my last one which lasted 2.5 years. This controller feels sturdier and more durable. It doesn’t come with paddles or replacement thumb sticks, so I used the ones i had from the original controller. It looks better now. This is the controller and USB cable only.Great value, glad i ordered.

Upon opening the brand new box, I noticed a faint rattling sound when I shook it. I’m not sure if it this was due to shipping but I did send it back and bought a different one to try again. Hoping for the best.

This controller is beautiful and feels wonderful to play with. Im learning how to use 2 extra buttons from the aftermarket wired controller i had previously but this is doing justtt finee for me. Thumbs up!!! Love the customization options i have with this controller and it came w the pouch!

Good controller well worth the money if you utilize the paddles or even if you just want a controller that’ll last you a long time. If you don’t game fairly often or don’t play shooters it may not be worth it but still not a bad purchase it’ll last a long time.

I purchased my Elite Series 1 (1st gen) controller on April 5, 2017. Loved it so much that I bought my Series 2 (2nd gen) on July 23, 2021. The reason I am mentioning this is the quality and longevity has gone down considerably between the two iterations or generations. Some things to note, I am not a daily gamer. I do it to blow off steam and when I can. My use is not like my nephews where a $70 daily is best and rock it until it breaks. I currently work in cybersecurity and at one time worked for Microsoft (2009-2010). I am a fan of what they do and how they do it.The best way to tell you why I gave them 2 stars is to compare the longevity of the two different devices. I am using my 1st gen Elite controller in 2023. It has many, many, many road miles on it. It is practically brand new minus some breaking in. The joysticks glide with ease and a lot easier than the Xbox Series X controllers that I leave sitting, collecting dust.I bought an Elite Series 2 because of the experience of the 1st gen. It is hardy and worth the value and then some. When I look at my hardcore gaming nephews…I see the value in buying something designed for serious gamers in mind. My level of play was much more than the last couple of years. We relocated across the country. Gaming was not even feasible so my Series 2 sat in storage, protected, and untouched until August 2022.I got maybe 6 months of occasional play before joystick drifting started. I am strict about having clean hands, and not having food around, we have no young kids, and I would consider us empty nesters. So far away from friends and family that the occasional visit hasn’t happened while the series 2 has been out of storage. I keep compressed air out and store it with care. You could say I “baby” it.All that in mind…joystick drift! It goes down and continues down or to one of the sides. It is not sticky or feeling gritty. The sticks move like they did when I got them. In fact, comparing them to the Series X which is new…they feel very similar. Stiff and not broken in yet.Checking with Amazon, they said to contact MSFT. I contacted Microsoft (MSFT), and they said sorry…it is out of warranty. We have no solution for joystick drift. As I researched the issue, this is common with the series 2. I find it unacceptable to have such little wear and tear on it to be this way IF they quality-tested it as advertised.I am now conflicted about buying a new one…again. I feel I should stick to the series 1 until the ‘wheels fall off’ sort of speak. Then maybe look at Razer, SCUF, or something like them. Microsoft doesn’t really stand behind it. Just the standard 90 days to ensure there are no “manufacturer” defects kind of warranty.Joystick drift is poor quality in my book. If your quality and testing folks did it right, this series 2 I have would still be like new. Very sad Microsoft. I hope you change your mind and do right by the gamers. Even us ‘occasional’ gamers.

The Top Left Rear Trigger has been heavily used and no longer tactile.Left Trigger doesn’t depresses to about 95%.There’s less than 8% of play in the sticks (see image). The average user should pick this up if they really want one.

Got this in very good used condition. Had to open it up and inspect it, because the right bumper was not working reliably. Upon inspection this controller had the left bumper replaced (There was left over flux residue along with some mediocre solder joints). Was able to easily replace the right bumper’s button and get it working without tearing it down too much. Only pried the front and back shell and was able to get to the buttons. Good controller, though I must’ve gotten one with that bumper defect. Expect to have to replace parts if you get a used controller. Also, looks like there’s a tamper seal on one of the screws, so you can see if it’s been previously opened before.

This is the 2nd one I’ve bought, and unfortunately the RB (possibly LB too) has issues after a while. Probably the best controller on the market, but if you play a lot then you may find yourself replacing it or learning how to solder.

I was originally skeptical of getting this controller as I had heard of quality control issues and wasn’t sure about the price. After my friends told me about their experiences and how much they loved it, I finally decided to get this controller. This is now my primary controller that I use for most of my games. I will only use the regular controllers when this controller is recharging or I have guests over for local coop games. The main things I love are:- Hair Triggers and being able to shoot faster, especially with semi automatic weapons in shooter games.- The long lasting battery life. All Xbox controllers should come with a rechargeable battery built in or one that can be removed.- Having different profiles and being able to change the light color on the controller.- The metallic blue on the bumpers and triggers.- The rubber grips- The usb c cable matches the color of this controller (The Red core controller comes with a red usb c cable as well).I wish the core controller at least came with paddles, but I was able to purchase the component pack. I like the paddles, case, and charging dock that came with it.I like this controller so much that I went and bought the red version as a backup and because I liked the red color as well. If you play a few occasional competitive games or want a more premium controller, go out and get this. If you mostly play single player games, play games once in a while, or are on a budget, then you should stick with the regular Series X/S controllers as they will still serve your needs. The one advantage of getting any of the core controllers is that you can choose which additional accessories you want later on.

e, more than what I expected. This thing is a BEAST! 😳 I had never owned a premium controller like this, so this was new. Has a built in rechargeable battery that I didn’t know it had, including a charging port 😅 then after programming it to my X, I didn’t know you can mix the buttons around to your liking, outstanding! 👍 I can even change the color of the Xbox button to however I like as well. I just assumed I was only getting a couple of extra analog sticks, and a very nice premium-material built controller…my regret about getting this, was not getting it sooner! 😤 it really does seem like it’s worth the money

(Let me preface this review by clarifying that I have thousands of hours in the esport Rocket League and play in highly competitive environments consistently. As a result, average use of a controller such as this will typically range from 15-40 hours a week. If this situations I discuss are dissimilar to your own, this review will most likely be entirely unhelpful, and potentially every issue I may mention would never even be noticeable otherwise.)The reason I purchased an Xbox Elite Controller was to resolve some of the gripes that I have with the normal Core Xbox One controller. Namely, the left bumper becoming insensitive after a random amount of time. I have explored fixing the controllers myself by replacing the parts, but a small glance at the interior of the controller reveals that these components almost seem specifically designed to break, and any new component would soon meet the same fate due to this controller architecture. As a result, I decided to take a chance of a very pricey controller.——————————————————Let’s begin with the strong points of this controller:-Generally solid build quality-Very smooth analog stickNow that I’ve got that out of the way, let me list every issue that plagued me during the few weeks I dared to use this controller.1. Triggers and Trigger LocksMaybe I’m unaware of some popular applications which require a player to be setting different trigger-locks mid game, but the placement of these trigger locks has to be one of the most nonsensical design choices of all time. It unfortunately just so happens that any reasonable human being might rest an unused finger in that exact location. What significance could this possibly have? How about, accidentally setting a trigger lock mid trigger input so that the button jams and cannot be used again until you manually put the trigger lock back. I literally entered into the Google search bar, “How to stop Xbox Elite trigger locks from working.” This phenomenon occured a significantly statistic amount of times during the small amount of time that I owned this controller. Now, when it comes to triggers, Xbox controller have had a fair amount of hiccups. In the past, the Core controllers would have consistent issues with the button actuation causing some kind of rubbing which exposed an adhesive in the controller. This adhesive just so happened to come into contact with the trigger being depressed, so it would stick for a moment when you let go of the trigger. This hasn’t been an issue on Core controllers for a while now, but it seems like the Elite counterpart didn’t quite get the memo because the sticking still occurs, albeit to a lesser degree.2. Sensitivity and ResistancePersonally, I actually like my Xbox face buttons to be relatively loose as I use a technique which allows me to press all of these buttons with just my thumb. As a result, I slide a lot from button to button and often utilize the edges of my finger. These face buttons slowed me down tremendously and was beginning to condition me into applying more force than necessary so that I didn’t get ‘stuck’ on a button for slightly too long. On top of this strangely strong button resistance, I also realized that it’s possible to depress the face buttons in such a way that the controller does not register them as inputs. If done so in a delicate way straight on, or at particular angles you will just lose an input. Can’t imagine that every being a problem in a competitive environment! Realistically however, this only affected me a handful of times, but it occurring at all is already a massive oversight. This is an issue that I’ve never encountered on the base model Core controllers.Technically, the controller did deliver on what I initially purchased it for, solid bumper use, but it introduced so many issues that I never even considered possible that I was longing for the base plasticy feel of a cheap Xbox controller again. For a controller which costs approximately 3x more than the base models and delivers objectively worse overall performance for my applications, I cannot possibly recommend this controller.

controller changed the way I play first person shooters for ever. I no longer move my right thumb from the aiming joy stick ever. I mapped all the paddles to the buttons so I never have to move my right thumb. In fact I can’t believe I ever did before I got this controller. I am that much better. I spam jump and never stop aiming at the same time. I can wall ride with Lucio and shoot/aim easy. Before I wondered how people can pull that off on controllers! A few things I did notice straight out the box the move left stick was locked moving to the left (I turned the controller off/on and it fixed itself. And then a couple weeks later I started a match and it was spamming the right trigger. Again I turned it off/on and it fixed itself. That’s about it. I highly recommend this controller.

ntroller worked better. I bought this (crazy expensive) controller, and also the latest PlayStation 5 (crazy expensive) controller. Turns out, whether on Linux (with all updates, latest kernels, etc), and on Windows 10 (latest updates), the PS5 controller worked better. And, I’m dinging this controller a star because *even* on MSFT’s own/latest Flight Simulator on Windows 10, the PS5 controller worked better for me, and was more easily configurable for all the myriad controll/switches needed to fly FlightSimulator. In other words, the controller itself is wonderful/cool/snazzy, but the drivers, not on Linux and not even on Windows 10, are not up to snuff.

but missing a piece. These controllers are absolute units. If you’ve never used one: they’re heavy. Heavy duty stuff, metal construction, they have some heft. Triggers and sticks are super responsive, the customization options are wonderful. Took a star off because mine came missing one of the additional thumbsticks, the extra long one. Not a huge deal or worth returning over because I’ve used one with the longer stick and didn’t care for it anyway, but still, if you’re selling expensive high-end hardware, at least make sure it’s all in the box, ya know?

    Zeb -

  35. Christopher Lang -

really expensive. This is my first experience with any Xbox controller. The vast majority of my gaming is done on PC and I’ve been keeping PlayStation consoles around for exclusives since ’95. For my PC games that I play with a controller I’ve traditionally used a PlayStation controller (PS4 or DualSense) wired and mapped with Steam Input. After I had a DualSense stick drift so hard I couldn’t repair it I decided I’d give an official Xbox controller a try since so many games are built with Xinput in mind.Firstly it’s very comfortable and I’m surprised that the offset sticks felt as good as they do (again, 20+ years of PlayStation controllers dug into my brain). The D-pad will take some getting used to as I’m not accustomed to reaching ‘downward’ to get to it. In panic situations I’ll often hit the wrong direction since I don’t have that muscle memory yet. Fit and finish is very nice; the textured surfaces are pleasant and grippy. All the buttons feel smooth and tactile; nothing mushy here. It’s got a good weight and I have no issues with the battery life. I’m using an unofficial knock-off wireless adapter that initially gave me some connection problems but setting the Xbox Accessories Management Service to run ‘automatically’ at startup solved that problem for me.Of course there’s a lot of selling points here for a premium controller and I gotta say I dig ’em all. The paddles are FANTASTIC and I love that I can map them to whatever I want with Steam Input. The swappable D-Pad and analog sticks are great and they are held on with magnets. BRILLIANT. I prefer the traditional 4-way D-Pad; it feels great and it’s made of metal. The analog sticks have adjustable tension and the included tool makes it really easy. The only thing I can nitpick here is the rumble feature. It’s really good, but the DualSense controller from Sony is on a whole other level with haptic feedback. It’s good, but Sony’s is top-tier.One thing that I find incredibly cool despite being very simple, is the case and charger. It comes with a clamshell zippered case that holds the included charging dock and accessories. The charging dock has magnets that hold it inside the case, the controller has magnets that hold it to the dock, and the case has a tiny cutout that accommodates the charging cable. The whole case, charger, and controller can sit in a corner of my desk and the controller will charge inside the case all nice and elegantly. It’s expensive, but if you want a really premium-feeling and customizable controller this is it. I can’t speak to how well it works with a console, but with a PC and Steam Input this thing has a lot of utility especially when remapping the back paddles. Expensive, yes. Worth it, depends.
