I purchased this to use as a facial moisturizer overnight, and have not been disappointed. It is thick so I get a nice little facial massage while applying it. The smell is a bit strong and “green,” but if you can tolerate it, then it is worth it. It does an exceptional job moisturizing my skin. It’s a great product to layer with Tretinoin to prevent peeling.

I like the herbal scent and how moisturizing this cream is, but it is SOO thick. It makes it very hard to spread, and even though I know it doesn’t clog pores, I can’t bring myself to use it as a facial lotion due to the thickness. I use it mostly on my body wherever I have issues with dryness.

This is a wonderful and rich cream for the body but do not be tempted to use it on the face if you are acne prone. I will continue to use this as a body cream as it is super thick and hydrating. I wouldn’t describe this as an everyday cream but rather a cream you use when you body REALLY needs some hydration. It is very thick and takes a bit to rub into the skin, but it really works. When I put this on at night after a shower I find that my skin still feels super hydrated when I wake up the next morning.

Skin food is essential, especially in the winter. It’s very thick, this is a heavy moisturizer. For dry skin it’s amazing. They also make a medium weight moisturizer/night cream that comes in a green jar- it has the same benefits but isn’t as thick. It’s so nourishing without all the toxic chemicals that are in most products. Just keep in mind that this is a very thick moisturizer and you may not like that if you’re skin isn’t dry. Although its for all skin types, I don’t use this as much in the summer when my skin is more oily. I use on my face but you can use anywhere. My only complaint is the smell, but it’s natural with no added fragrance and I much prefer that to a heavily fragranced product.

I power through California summers, by focusing on the upcoming winter, and how much I’ll appreciate every rainy day, the scent of petrichor, every cozy night in, the absence of mosquitoes, and being forced to wear clothes so drenched in sweat, you could literally wring them out at the end of the day… 🥵The only thing I DON’T appreciate is how itchy, flakey and dry my skin is throughout my favorite season. Combined with battling cystic pimples every month with AHA’s, BHA’s, Tretinoin, my skin is practically snowing! 😩ENTER WELEDA SKIN FOOD; a MIRACLE for dry, itchy, flaky skin. Why trust my review? Well, I’ve tried a lot of heavy thick creams in attempt to quench my extremely parched skin; CeraVe w/ Hyaluronic Acid, Nivea, First Aid Ultra Repair, even La Mer — none were nearly as effective or worked half as long as WELEDA SKIN FOOD. But my skin isn’t just dry, it’s also sensitive, prone to blackheads, cystic pimples, dark spots, and at 39, (going on 25 😉), it also struggles to turn over on its own, which easily leads to congestion, especially on my face. To prevent pimples that will inevitably leave scars and dark spots, I have to continue using Tretinoin and other chemical exfoliants during the wintertime, and trust me —IT SHEDS to an unsightly and embarrassing degree, but I’ve found a significant amount of relief from WELEDA. It not only keeps my skin hydrated for several hours, but it significantly minimizes the appearance of flaking skin and leaves it glowing and dewy without clogging my pores. But, I believe this product could be better if there was an “unscented” option. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a terrible scent; it’s a bit minty and sweet, and it does go away after you apply it, but some people, like myself are sensitive to secrets, and there’s NO reason why any skincare product should have scents added to them. That’s my only complaint/suggestion.Other than that this cream is perfect and like many reviews say, it works perfectly as a makeup primer. It IS thick, and it can sometimes be hard to spread around, but I find that I’d you apply it over a serum, it’ll spread quite smoothly over the skin.(This review is 100% honest and incentive-free)

I have been using this as a face moisturizer at night, and it has completely transformed my skin. I live in SoCal, and the weather is in the middle of changing. Yesterday we had 5% humidity, temperature has been vacillating between the high 80s and low 50s. My skin is unbelievably dry, especially my face. As a total skincare junkie, I’ve been using two different types of moisturizer, straight Argan oil, Marine Hyaluronics by The Ordinary, and rosewater. Nothing worked. My undereyes were peeling. My foundation and concealer caught every single dry spot to the extent that I couldn’t wear makeup without looking like I had a peeling sunburn underneath. I was just about fed up when I Googled “best moisturizer for dry skin” and this came up. This is a new holy grail. The (Mild) Downsides:The smell is not phenomenal, a bit like paint, almost. It scared me at first, but I have very sensitive skin, and it hasn’t irritated it. I believe the smell is natural. I also get reactive breakouts to some products, but not this, so even though it’s thicker than acrylic paint, fear not. That brings me to my next point— this is THICK. Very, very thick, and depending on the temperature, difficult to spread. I usually just take the opportunity to massage my face, but once I get to the thin eye area I swap to a patting motion OR cut it with some Argan oil.It feels sticky but once it sinks in it really isn’t. It may be best to think of it as an overnight mask, or in very thin layers, a primer. This will make your skin incredibly happy and hydrated, but it will also make you shine like a freshly waxed floor if you lay it on thick during the day. A little does go a long way, but it’s tough to get that little to go the way.All downsides have been 200% worth it for me. My skin is no longer peeling at all. My light coverage foundation goes on the way you see in commercials. My concealer is working without issue. My skin feels plump and not-fatigued. I have even been able to return to using my retinol and glycolic acid in spite of the extremely dry weather, and my skin is STILL happy and moisturized.I could not recommend this enough if you’re at a loss with dry skin, and if you aren’t afraid of stickiness, lay it on thick and sleep in it.
