Build quality of the base/mount is nothing to write home about, but the lamp itself is made of metal, it’s fully adjustable, and the bulbs are replaceable. A perfectly serviceable light for a workbench at a perfectly good price.

Look at how easily it fits into and onto my desk. I bought 3. Versatile as you use either the base or the clamp. Also, i didn’t notice that there is another hole on the side for a side mounting if you wanted to clamp on a vertical structure. Goose neck lamps a great, but the versatility, functionality, and mostly, structural sturdiness and integrity sold me. And, it matches every decor room nicely. It also adds a nice flair of brightness to the room as its not to flashy.

I love these lamps so much I bought it a second time. Nice weight. Works well. Stays upright when moving the arm. Feels like it’ll last and is a nice brightness with a 60w equivalent bulb.

I’m happy with these lamps. I ordered three of them to brighten up our library at school. They have helped to make the place look more cozy and homely. I used the clamps to attach them securely to bookshelves so that the kids couldn’t knock them off. That was the most important feature for me. The head of the lamp is smaller than I imagined but it actually works just fine in our space.

So, I finally decided to bring the TORCHSTAR Metal Desk Lamp with Clamp into my life, and let me tell you, this lamp is a total game-changer. First off, the build quality is impressive—it’s constructed from solid metal and feels like it could survive a minor apocalypse. I was genuinely surprised by how sturdy it is. If you’re tired of your lamp wobbling or tipping over just because you accidentally nudged it, this is the lamp for you. It’s like having a personal bodyguard for your desk. Now, the clamp—oh man, the clamp. It’s seriously one of the best features. It attaches to my desk with a grip so tight, I’m pretty sure it could hold on through an earthquake. I love how it eliminates any worries about the lamp falling over when I reach for my coffee or elbow-deep into a project. It’s secure, reliable, and it keeps everything in place like a pro.Setting this bad boy up was a breeze. The clamp mechanism is straightforward—just twist it on, and you’re good to go. The adjustable arm is a dream come true. It bends, twists, and rotates into just about any position you could need, allowing me to direct the light exactly where I want it. It’s like having a mini spotlight that you can position precisely for whatever task you’re tackling, minus the dramatic flair and flashing cameras. In short, the TORCHSTAR Metal Desk Lamp with Clamp is the epitome of desk lamp excellence. It’s sturdy, functional, and has a clamp that’s basically a fortress. If you’re in the market for a lamp that’s going to stay put, shine bright, and make your workspace look like a million bucks, this one’s definitely worth checking out. Plus, it takes one more worry off your plate—no more dodging falling lamps when you’re knee-deep in work!

I bought this to replace an old goose neck lamp that sits on a shelf above my computer that I had to stand up in a weird position to reach the on and off switch that was located on top of the lamp. The switch on this lamp is located on the chord and because it sits on a shelf above, the on and off switch is positioned perfect for my use. I no longer have to stand up to turn the lamp on. The heavy base is not heavy enough to be able to use the lamp. I have it clamped to the shelf and don’t really have to move it around. It’s a little flimsy if you need to move it around. Need to hold onto the clamp to be able to move it around. A smaller light bulb sits up inside the light as it should. Full size light bulb sticks out the bottom of the lamp shade. I’m happy with my purchase.

I bought this, not as a desk lamp but as alternative lighting for a 3 gallon jar with snails and live plants. I added a bulb intended for that purpose, but it was too bright and am using a simple 2500k led from the local chain store. (It works great for growing Salvinia, Java Moss and Java fern in that configuration fwiw.) Anyway, it is cute and does what I wanted it to.On to the bad: It doesn’t have as much range of motion as another similar lamp I bought years ago but it cost half as much too. Also, the base is a lightweight plastic so treat it with care. it feels brittle.Overall, it is cute, functional and affordable. I enjoy it.

This lamp clamps tight to the edge of my desk. A different one didn’t reach past the curved edge of my desk so I returned it.

The lamp arrived with a loose bulb socket and I wasn’t able to put a bulb in before I tightened it up with a Phillips screwdriver. (No big deal but frustrating.)I’m using it as a localized light source on my shop workbench. I used a very bright LED bulb.I think the base is under-weighted. If you extend the lamp arm out horizontally, the lamp gets tippy even with a normal bulb. I’m going to add some extra weight to it or clamp it down. That should do it.All in all the lamp arms, springs, and overall construction are up to the task, but just barely. It is is a cheap set up at a cheap price. Don’t expect much or you’ll be disappointed.

I had another version of this type of a lamp for my art table, way back in the early 1990s and I had it for 6 years and somehow it started having electrical problems and then it blew out completely. After that, I’ve never bought another one. As for this one – this lamp is excellent and I like the round shaped base and the separate clamp part. This was a excellent purchase!

It works great and looks like the Pixar lamp. Now I wish I had bought the white one. It has a nice heave base and comes with clap attachment! Will look for a reason it get another.

We already have one of these lights clamped to the headboard of our bed. I have purchased this one for my side to read with. I drilled a couple holes through the clamping end and used screws to mount it to the wall that was convenient for me to see better. I highly recommend it. The company who sells them probably doesn’t want you to drill holes in the clamp to hang it but it doesn’t interfere with the wiring.

The unit is nice and light weight being made in plastic and not metal. Lamp shade is small and does not accommodate a regular size bulb and needs a smaller bulb.

Larger than it looks in the picture, seems to be well made. Plastic clamp stand thats included is a little flimsy but the regular base is sturdy enough.

Fix-it Man –
Works for my needs. However, the base needs to be heavier. It doesn’t allow the lamp head to be position out farther. The screw down clamp is flimsy and needs to be wider to accommodate the longer extension of the lamp head. The lamp shade is a bit short, doesn’t block the side light from small compact Fluorescent bulbs & LED bulbs. Works GREAT for incandescent bulbs!! But those are becoming (if not already) OBSOLETE!! Even most places in my area don’t even sell appliance incandescent bulbs anymore.

This lamp was worth every penny I spent on it. I make 1:9 scale model horse tack in my spare time and this lamp allows me to position the bulb right over my work and provide full light so I can see what I’m doing. For sure recommend this to crafters! The only little irk is that if you stretch the lamp too far when it’s on the base it will fall over.

Conrad –
Its’ a little smaller than I had imagined. There are no adjustments for the tension of the sections of support though the stiffness makes it hold its position. I installed a “100 watt” equivalent LED bulb for task lighting and works well on the lamp. The switch is 1 foot down the cord which makes it inconvenient to turn off/on (in my opinion). Would be better on the light somewhere. As a base to place the lamp on a desk or similar and a clamp fixture for a bench or table. Neither is particularly robust but adequate. The clamp base aldo allows the lamp to be screwed permanent to a surface. Overall, I’m satisfied and the price is cheap.

ture. Bought these for my kids who are both working remotely and they love them. my only criticism of the product is that the shade is too shallow so is best if you use a short neck bulb so it does not extend beyond the rim of the shade.

IKEA. Recently I bought a very similar one from IKEA, but I dont have one locally, so I ordered this one. Im very pleased with build quality and finish. Unlike the one from IKEA, the light shade is metal (ikea’s is plastic, yuck). Plus, it takes “normal” size light bulbs instead of small ones, so you can have a better options. I paired it with LED light so it would not heat up the metal so it never gets hot. Dinged one star because the shade is a tad to small, so the bottom of the normal size bulb protrudes a bit. Not a big deal if you sitting normally at your desk instead of reclining. Overall good value.

t up just right. I’m having problems with the clamp. It slips even when I tighten in as much as I can. I’m using this lamp with a grow bulb for my plants. It took awhile to configure it the way I want it to be to aim the light exactly where it needs to be. I might have to change it to using the base. Eventually I’m going to get a second desk lamp that can take regular size bulbs for another grow light, because I want to grow different plants all year (vegetables). Not sure if I will purchase this specific one again or not. We’ll see.

are the weak points. The good:- the articulating arm does do a good job of moving around, staying where you put it.- the lamp shade is wide enough to accommodate a red light therapy bulb- the on/off switch on a cord is awesomeThe bad:- the clamp is wildly flimsy and doesn’t give you much confidence from the get go- the base is super lightweight which is an inherent flaw for something that’s support to articulate and lean. If your bulb is at all heavy, it’s going to tip over the second you move it, which negates the articulating arm.- were the clamp good enough to forego the desktop stand, it’d still be a winner. In the meanwhile, I found a barbell disk that will fit to hold it down, but because the mount is off center, you can’t use a really big one that would hold it better. There is a different one on Amazon that has the lamp inserted dead center into the stand (which means that it’s probably heavier-weight for them to be that risky and counterintuitive on the design front for a boom-arm) which would allow you to put a heavier barbell disk/plate that would guarantee stability. I’m either going with that or a bombitch floor stand model that also is centered and would allow a workaround to keep it upright. For a light LED lightbulb, this is probably okay, but even an incandescent will be possible limited in how far the arm can extend. It just needs a much better clamp!

a lamp. I use this as a plant lamp and it has worked just fine. I haven’t had to move it much so I can’t comment on how well it holds up to being bumped or repositioned constantly. Thought it hasn’t started sagging either so there’s that. It’s plugged into a wifi outlet and has no issue turning on or off at the set time.

I bought this to clamp to the headboard of a bed, which it was okay for.It has a few shortcomings in design:(1) The clamp easily separates into pieces until you tighten it down. Even then, it’s not particularly secure. This was used for an elderly person’s headboard so that they could have some reading light. It got bumped and knocked off the headboard a few times, until the clamp got lost. A better design would make the clamp stay in one piece, even when loose.(2) It’s rather short. I know the dimensions are accurate, but if you’re thinking this is the typical drafting-table size lamp, it’s not.(3) The springs in its articulating arm are so tight or stiff that they overpower its weight. This results in it not staying in position. In fact, I discovered that a better solution is to remove one spring from each of its joints. Then they provided the right amount of strength. But in the end, it’s an inexpensive articulating clamp/desktop lamp, and it works fine.

ks. Did not include a bulb. No biggie – takes large base bulbs. Not as big as I thought it would be but functional. Base could be a 1/2 lb. heavier – tips over when fully extended. Would be great on a small desk where space is a premium. Cord is plenty long, and there’s a handy switch near the base.

is bad, kinda small “shade”. The lamp itself (and the weighted base) is pretty nice, adjusts pretty well and looks cool in red. BUT, the clamp is not really functional – it doesn’t have any grippy design on one half, it’s too small to grab securely onto most edges and there’s no way to secure the lamp into the grip! (just a hole, with no screw to lock it in). Also, the shield/cup is rather short, so a standard bulp will protrude slightly, shining bright light into your eyes if you look at it from the side (must point it away). OK for the price.

little bigger. I always loved having this type of lamp on my desk while I’m working on a scale model kit or anything else. This is a well-made product that does the job but the lamp cover part could have been larger to stop the bulb glaring from the side, especially since I need a relatively bright LED bulb for the work I do. The entire lamp would be much better if it were around 20% larger than it is in general. The on/off switch is on the lamp’s power cord when it would have been better if it were on the top of the lampshade. That having been said, the lamp’s base is weighted well so it’s pretty stable and there’s an option to anchor it with a clamp if preferred and the on/off switch is easily reachable on the lamp’s wire.Overall a decent lamp for the price.

k. I wanted to get a lamp that could take “old fashioned” bulbs, and this popped up in my search. It is small, but big enough to light my desk. It is easy to move it around and get the light where I want it.

l these are quite nice lamps. My only complaint is the clamp mount is not as sturdy as I’d like. I have large grow bulbs in them weighing 14oz and the plastic bottom of the clamp bends when the lamp is extended. I fear these will break eventually and I’ll have to figure something else out. For standard light bulbs though, this is not an issue. The range of motion is pretty good, especially for normal desk usage. The range of motion is probably as good as you’re going to get unless you get a gooseneck.

count on desk clamp. You’ll have to use the base. The clamp was weak and would not hold when making miner adjustments to the lamp. Tried several times. But for me it worked out fine because the base is good and heavy. Very similar (nearly identical) to a lamp I purchased 20 years ago and am still happy with. I’m guessing this one will serve me well, as well.

like everything about this lamp from price to versatility, but I had to knock off a star since their quality control overlooked the fact they shipped it out with an unthreaded nut for the base. Not a huge nor expensive issue… just annoying.
