Had one of these when I worked in IT. Great for unraveling any wiring mysteries.

Ok, so the sensitivity adjuster is a totally terrible design. Primarily, if you are searching for a single trace in a large bundle, this will go off- beeping at any wire in proximity. If you crank the sensitivity down, it still has the same beep, just quieter- YOU STILL CAN’T DISTINGUISH A SINGLE TRACE. It’ll beep on every wire adjacent to the transmitting wire. So, in the cramped quarters of a car or engine bay, this is useless- Especially if you don’t have room to separate the wires.

I like the flexibility and attachments. It’s just not strong enough. Especially on smaller wire like CAT wire. It’s hard to hear at construction sites where there is a lot of noise. I don’t think it would ever drive a speaker (a common test procedure in the AV industry). When you snap in the RJ11 the release is mostly covered so you have to use a finger nail to release it. Not a huge deal but odd they didn’t turn the connector 180 degrees to make it easier to release.

I was very disappointed at first. I was trying to use this to find some cat 5 cables in our office, and I discovered I couldn’t hear anything from the probe if I got more than a couple of feet down the cable. I wrote a bad review, then I thought to check the cat 5 connector for the tone generator. Turns out the RJ-11 plug that goes into the generator was not properly connected. After snipping it off and crimping on another connector, I’ve got much better performance.

ove almost everything about this toner. Only gripe I have is that it doesn’t take rj45 connection on the tool end.

rice. This toner kit has everything you need to tone out wires. Very low on the frills list but more than you need. Well priced.

good tool for the money the tone is kind of weak compared to some others but it gets the job done while leaving you money to buy more tools also the tone probe and accessories are kept together in a good solid holder.

Product works and the convenience of the package is awesome.I don’t carry it too often and feel the clip might break if you use it too often. I could be wrong.Good product, I’m satisfied, it works as well as the 90$ toners and I can fit the whole thing on my belt when I need it.

This is a great little piece of kit.The only thing that i have say in a negative way,is the fact that the cables supplied with the device are not the best quality and have a tendency to fall out of location, but that said,it’s a real time saver.

Love this thing. Compact, various connectors work flawlessly, and to top it all off its cheaper than competitors and it actually works better than the Fluke I had (the blue one). At low gain I can pinpoint cables with accuracy and precision and the probe will be nice and loud even at low gain.

It needs female-female connectors for LAN and coax. Other than that the product works great
