This looks simple, but saves a lot of time when taping edges. I would buy this again.

Great for amateur home DIY painters. I have used this device to quickly tape up edges and ceilings for interior painting. Make sure you press down on the masking tape after applying with this applicator to minimize any bleed. Saves prep time and it’s low cost.

  3. AJ

Saves your time to apply the tape and does it better than me!! It’s not expensive. Size is just perfect for my needs. The adhesion is very strong but easy to remove. Works as it should!! You can refill with other tape. Smooth to operate.

I don’t usually use tools for edging when I paint because I have tried a few things (the brush edger, long metal edger, and tape alone) with little success, so cutting in has always worked better. This tool changes that! This makes applying tape fast, easy, and well done! Replacing the tape roll is simple and quick. I have been using the blue tape and have had almost no bleed through! I would recommend this to anyone who likes straight clean lines when painting, definitely worth the money.

  5. Sarah Makein

This tool was a huge time saver! While it isn’t perfect, it cut my prep time. Sometimes, the tape would shift slightly in the roller, causing the line to angle. It is easily readjusted.

This little thing was so easy to use. It’s strong enough that it won’t break while using it. I’ve used it on the baseboards, floors around my cabinets and it worked perfectly. The price wasn’t bad either. For something that makes taping off faster it was worth it. The tape sticks and comes off easy.

  7. Chrissie

I was super excited to receive this thinking. I did not have to cut into trim anymore with tape. It does the trick for the most part but it’s not a flush tape line so there’s still a little work involved. I would say it’s OK and can get the job done fine as long as you’re not a perfectionist like me.

As an avid DIYer, I’ve always struggled with achieving perfectly straight lines when painting trim, windows, and door frames. That’s why I was thrilled to discover the Scotch Blue Painters Tape Applicator. This nifty tool has revolutionized my painting projects, making the taping process a breeze. One of the standout features of this applicator is its ability to apply the painter’s tape in one continuous strip. No more painstakingly trying to align individual pieces of tape – this tool does it for you, resulting in a seamless and precise line every time. The 1.41-inch width is perfect for most trim and frame applications, providing ample coverage without being too bulky. The included starter roll of Scotch Blue Painter’s Tape is a reliable and high-quality option, ensuring clean lines and easy removal without damaging surfaces. The applicator itself is well-designed and comfortable to hold, making it a pleasure to use, even for extended periods. My only critique, which prevents me from giving this product a perfect 5-star rating, is that occasionally the tape doesn’t adhere properly on the first try. There have been instances where I’ve had to go back and press down on certain sections to ensure a secure bond. This minor issue could be due to various factors, such as surface texture or ambient temperature, but it’s worth noting.Despite this small drawback, the Scotch Blue Painters Tape Applicator is an invaluable tool that has significantly improved the quality and efficiency of my painting projects. The time and frustration it saves more than make up for the occasional sticking issue. If you’re someone who values precision and clean lines when painting, this applicator is an absolute must-have. It might take a little practice to get the hang of it, but once you do, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it. Highly recommended for DIYers and professionals alike!

Works fairly well at applying the tape, but the side of part forces a gap along the edge you are trying to tape. It essentially makes taping kind of pointless if you aren’t even protecting all the way up to the edge you are trying to divide.

I saw online videos of a different brand painters tape dispenser that is much more expensive and not available on Amazon. I decided to give this one a try and I was thoroughly pleased with it. It’s very easy to use and allowed me to tape off my baseboards and door trim in no time. What’s great is by holding it against the wall while running on top of the baseboard, it ensures the tape to wall gap is consistent. I then ran a small bead of caulk along the tape and painted the area while the caulk was wet, then pulled the tap (while paint/caulk is wet) and it create near perfect straight lines! The amount of tape provided with the item is a decent amount. I was able to do around 3/4 of a standard room’s baseboards.

I was skeptical at first so I gave it a trial run and it worked beautifully. The trick is to make sure the plastic guide is even and flush with the wall as you lay down the tape. It worked well and I would recommend it.

This gadget really does work. I have RA and absolutely hate taping prior to painting. I bought this and didn’t have high expectations. Well I was pleasantly surprised and happy to see that taping was a breeze. The way it hugs the wall and helps guide the painters tape along the wall is impressive. I was done so fast. It allowed me to get started with painting my walls much faster. I was done painting so fast that my husband was impressed. Best gadget I ever bought for painting. Now to stock up on the painters tape.

I bought this to try and get the tape close to the baseboards but the device is just slightly too wide. Doing the old fashioned way worked better and gave me more control.

I love this thing!!!! I’ve spend countless back breaking time tapping edges over the years. Have me PTSD just thinking about it. I tried this 3M unit and love it. I swap out the tape for frog tape 1.41” for a better paint seal. Painting is so much faster now. Buy it!!!!

I’ve owned all kinds of devices to aid in DIY projects at my home and family and friends. More often they barely serve their purpose. My wife discovered this painters tape applicator on Amazon and forward me the link and I ordered it right away. Used it tonight and it took a fraction of the time to tape our living room wall so we could paint the new crown molding. Absolutely perfect results. I used a new 1″ plastic putty knife to press and seal the tape and there wasn’t any under bleeding. I love this tool!

    Scott Gentry

  18. Chris

Don’t waste your time taping by hand! This tool allowed me to tape an entire living room in under 20 min .. I will never go back to taping walls by hand again.

    Chris

  19. Ron H

This product makes taping easy and fast, love it. Only draw back is that you must use the one size tape it was made for. For me that is a minor thing. Tape does better job with this product than I could do by hand as well. Will never do without again.

Okay everyone knows how annoying it is to put masking tape over things you don’t want painted. Having to constantly line things up is a pain. When painting my whole house, we did one room without this item and it was a pain. We spent at least 30-45 minutes just masking everything. This item allowed us to complete the same task in under 15 minutes for another room. This is a game changer, I know that its very niche and you’ll probably only use it once, but if you’re painting your whole house or have multiple places you’re painting then this is a must!

  24. John Rossi

This is handy to have if you’re in a hurry and is pretty accurate. Has a felt pad that wears somewhat quickly if you happen to put a lot of pushing force. You don’t need that much force for it to get the tape in place. Jut run the tape, cut it and fully apply the tape laid with your hand. Felt will last longer that way. Works great around trim on doors, baseboards and around windows. I (and my son) destroyed the first one’s felt as it was our first pass at using one. Just pay attention to your direction as it can and will run out on you. Just snug up to the area you want to protect and tape. That easy and a bit faster that just the roll/tear method.

Had a project where I was painting an interior wall with high ceilings. The ceiling height required me to be on a ladder. Safety wise, this really only leaves me with one hand to perform tasks. Without this device, the act of taping ceilings would have been pretty unsafe. This product made my job much safer and much easier. I recommend.

This is one of those products I wish I would have discovered years ago. Almost every room in my apartment has wooden trim horizontally along the middle of the wall and vertically around the corners. This makes the taping process a nightmare. But it’s much more bearable with this tape and handy rolling dispenser.First, the tape itself is the perfect amount of sticky. Once you get it on, it really lays flat and helps keep the lines straight without bleed through. Second, the applicator device makes putting the tape down in long sections much more efficient. The serrated edge that cuts the tape helps with getting the ends of the tape straight. The other painting tapes I’ve used (all recommended by Home Depot/Lowe’s CSRs) didn’t do the best job keeping paint from going where I didn’t want it to go. Also, I would rip the tape in sections and the ends would end up jagged and angled. This tape plus dispenser is the superior option when you have a lot of taping to do.

  35. Robert Coffin

When I ordered tgis product I was skeptical about it just being another fad type of item but after the first time I used it I was shocked about how easy, smoothly and accurately this little tape dispenser actually was. Get the tape started lay dispenser flat on floor, trim or wall depending on your project and as long as you keep it flat against the surface it keeps a tight and consistent line even when goong around areas like door jambs. So gar this has at least cut my tape off time in half and as I use it more continue to learn new ways and tricks that make it even better.

Pros:Investing a few dollars up front can save you from a lot of pain in the long run. This product is truly amazing! It’s difficult to describe, so I urge you to try it out for yourself. The application process is more efficient and much easier to handle. Refilling the product is also a breeze. This product is the perfect size for working around woodwork and trim. It’s particularly useful for creating straight cuts when masking a cottage-style cabinet door. It allows for precise application of masking tape in corners and against indoor window trim.Cons:The masking tape cutter is only effective on soft surfaces. Attempting to use it on drywall may result in gouges or small perforations. Unfortunately, the cutter is not very useful on hard surfaces like metal, glass, or even hard plastic.

    l. Accurate cutting toolIt’s so much easier to make a nice straight tape line on the edge and also at the end because it has a nice sharp cutting tool. Much more convenient than constantly feeding out from the roll of tape.

I recently started the project of painting the interior of my whole house. I bought this tool to help with the taping off since that part is a giant pain. This tool was very helpful with that. It helps keep your paint tape line straight and flush with the wall. I didn’t give this tool 4 stars because nothing is perfect, and it only works for one tape size. Also, if working on a project by yourself because painters tape isn’t super “sticky” you have to pull some of off, push down so it sticks, then pull. If you pull to fast the tape comes off the wall and you gotta start over.
