I’ve been hesitant to buy this but I’m so glad I did. It’s a hand heald sharpener so no battery’s, silent to use, so well built, plastic outside is a little cheep but hey. Amazing at sharpening my prismacolor pencils and great value for money. Very accurate sharpening.

Love the pencil sharpener itself. Works great with all the pencils, color pencils, and charcoal that I’ve thrown at it thus far.The only drawback I have experienced is the opening process. I made myself feel completely incompetent and then looked up a video on how to open it. The process is so simple once you know the “trick”, just wish the packaging would have shown how with a couple of pictures.Hint: Just push up with your thumb on the arrow. Do not take the back off. If all else fails check for videos.

I purchased this sharpener after reading some reviews and it really is the best sharpener for these delicate pencils. This is a great price for this unit. I love that it sharpens quickly and provides 2 sized openings. No batteries needed. (That’s another plus). To empty it, it may be difficult at first. The lid is on tight. Over time, it becomes a bit easier to open and you simply empty the shavings out. nice size to slide into your pencil pouch.

I draw with Prismacolor pencils which are top of the line and very expensive. Those qualities make having a top knothole sharpener a big priority. The blades down in there are plenty sharp and you have 2 choices of the kind of point you want. It collects the shavings without fail and is easy to empty when the time comes. It works well with Prismacolor pencils for which it was designed and, no doubt, serves well with other brands too.

I have always had an issue with sharpening colored pencils. They would break so easily just from sharpening. Turns out you need a sharpener specifically for colored pencils. This works better than any other I’ve tried. To empty the shavings, pop off the top holding the blades while holding the lid close. It takes a bit of force.

best pencil sharpener i swear!! most sharpeners will crack my prismacolor pencils but this one doesn’t i mean it’s by the same brand but still, this one also works really well with all my other soft core pencils

Just what I hoped for…a nice sharp point with no lead breakage!

Its a little confusing at first on how to empty it but once you know how its easy. It sharpens really good and the price is very good. Works great love it

I like this sharpener very much, and have bought several over time. My only complaint is that the way it presses together to hold the sharpener to the barrel that holds the shavings over time gets less secure–always seems that when they get older I end up dropping it and it comes apart spilling my shavings! Works fine if I don’t accidentally drop it, though.

I recently purchased an electric pencil sharpener for some oil-based colored pencils, but it binds the pencil and breaks the tip. This little manual sharpener is so much better. It does not waste the pencil to the sharpening process. It also has reasonable tip lengths to keep the pencil tip stronger. I am enjoying the colored pencils much more now! Edit: my completed drawing, although I am not happy with the feathers. I’m working on a new drawing.

Sharpens great. I use the same brand colored pencils and it works as intended. Worth the purchase.

Nice pencil sharpener with a lid which is extremely important for kids have in a school pencil case. Good design, nice price.

This is a great little sharpener. I love that the actual sharpener is metal because the plastic ones seem to break so easily and can also be pushed into the container. I do not see that happening with this one. I also have had no problems with the tip of any pencil getting stuck in the sharpener, as has happened with the plastic ones. I haven’t had it long, so I will update if for some reason it turns out I was wrong. So far though, I highly recommend!

I had a cheap sharpener for my colored pencil set. Always seemed like I couldn’t get a good point on the pencils for fine lines. This has two sharpener options and is perfect! Would highly recommend.

This is the first sharpener that has actually sharpened my colored pencils. I get a nice sharp point. I have tried many sharpeners some name brands at a much higher price & they all have just destroyed my pencils.

Got this for my son who has currently been obsessed with drawing and was in need of a pencil sharpener that he could rely on. This was perfect for him. Haven’t tried it with my makeup pencils, but I would imagine this might do too good of a job on them.

Love the two options for sharpening. Prisms always delivers world class products

Like others, I too removed the outer decorative piece because it’s unnecessary and annoying. It pops right off and then you have a smooth barrel. It sharpens great and I get a great tip with either port with just a few turns. My only complaint is that the lid doesn’t click closed fully. I’m not sure if mine is defective or if it’s a design flaw. It’s not the end of the world though, it’s still an excellent sharper.

Hailie Luna –
I decided to get this sharpener because it was prisma color brand but also I’m tired of my color pencil point breaking. Now I really enjoy the fact that there are two different results in sharpening the pencil and also how quick and sharp the color pencil sharpens. I also appreciate how it’s not messy because it keeps all the trash inside. Quality is great and great price !

This hasn’t jammed up or stopped working like my little trusty metal sharpeners, or my electric sharpener. Works on all my pencils so far.

Great sharpener for my prismacolor pencils…doesn’t break the lead, or crack the pencil.

This sharpener provides the very sharp point needed for details in colored pencil drawings with very little breakage.

Works great but emptying it is a real pain and takes way much thinking to figure out how to open it. It says a lot that you really have to watch a YouTube video to figure out how to open it. The outside cover is pretty but what is its purpose? You have to remove it to open it. The outside cover is so tight that it feels like it isn’t supposed to be removed and you will feel like it is going to break.

Certainly solves the problems noted by reviewers using regular sharpeners on prismacolor pencils. Hopefully it maintains a good edge for a good while. That would make me feel that I got value for the money because it’s pretty expensive for a pencil sharpener.

well built & sharpens permacolor pencils well.

I was skeptical about how powerful this sharpener would work. But was pleasantly surprised that it sharpens beautifully with all of my colored pencils. Yay! I would highly recommend! A great alternative from purchasing an electric pencil sharpener. Money well spent! :))

I have a vendetta against pencil sharpers not worker how I need them to but this one works amazing! Leaves my pencil with a sharp, skinny point thats good for drawing. I got the black one and the color looks exactly like the picture. It was bigger that I thought it would be but it’s not too big, it’s easy to use, easy to hold. Sharpens quickly and pretty quietly but it still has that satisfying wood-shaving noise. Definitely worth the money cause it’s going to last me awhile, I can tell.

I have needed a good sharpener for my graphite, colored and pastel pencils. This does great with graphite and colored pencils, probably the best I’ve had. It is very good with pastel pencils. I have also used it with charcoal pencils and, while not fantastic, it is better than any other sharpener I’ve tried. I recommend buying it.

It works really well, without breakage. It’s my sharpener of choice, with all my art pencils.

I kept trying different sharpeners and they never seems to work so I finally caved and ordered this one! It works fast and gives the perfect tip. The two different tip options makes it perfect for whatever you are trying to color. Love it!

Crystal P. –
This sharpener is quiet, I’m talking you can barely hear the scrape of the pencil on the razor. The lid pops on and off easily- my 2 year old can do it- so probably not for children unattended. Also, 3-5 turns is all it takes for the point of perfection. Like, shank sharp.

My dad colors A LOT. He has Alzheimer’s and it’s one of the few activities that keeps his interest and I spend a lot of time sharpening color pencils. Before we got this sharper we had we had the Bostitch Twist & Sharp. It was terrible. Pencils constantly broke or just wouldn’t sharpen right. After dealing with that I kept my sharpener expectations somewhat low. The Prismacolor Premier Sharpener sharpens quickly and easily though, and the pencils sharpen good as new!

This sharpener works well, making a nice sharp point. There are two different size sharpening holes to use. I did find when using the smaller of the two on another brand of pencils (not Prismacolor) the pencil was a little loose in the hole and the point of the pencil was a little curved. No big deal. The reason I gave the sharpener only 4 stars is that it is a little large, especially if you want to pack it to use on vacation or outside. The larger size does accommodate lots of pencil shavings after sharpening though. The lid snaps down tightly over the two sharpeners, but I’m not sure how long the “plastic hinge” will stay intact. Nice ergonomic shape for holding and turning to sharpen a pencil.

After struggling with other sharpeners, I did some research and ordered the Prismacolor. It was perfect! You can twist just once or twice to sharpen your colored pencils or several times for a really sharp point. There are two holes for different widths of sharp. I thought it was overkill until I tried it. One thing I’d suggest…it is rather tight and hard to open the first time so do it once before it is full of shavings. There are no directions on how to open it. Look for the little dip in the top of the sharpener and use your thumb to push top up. I had to search online for how to open it.

I’ve been looking for a quality manual pencil sharpener for my various brands of colored pencils including prismacolors. It’s really sharp and does an excellent job.

Perfect size! Perfect well for shavings, not having to empty too quick. The sharpeners within work perfect and are precise. I’m glad I splurged on this sharpener for my adult coloring book kit.Would highly recommend.
