This popped on to my screen as I was shopping for a more complex machine but it sounded like a good solution for basic calculation tasks and it is. One of my concerns is clarity of the number screen due to some vision loss and this seems readable. The basic key functions are easy to use. I spent significant time making sure this was the best calculator in terms of key visibility too. The white numbers on the black keys are very readable. It is a combo of battery and solar which I like. It meets all my needs in function and readability at a decent price point. It has an “off” switch, a bonus that other reviews alerted me to as well.

I recently purchased the Casio MS-80B 8-Digit Desktop Calculator in blue, and it has quickly become an indispensable tool on my desk.Firstly, the calculator’s design is sleek and compact, making it perfect for any workspace. The blue color adds a nice touch of personality, standing out just enough without being overly flashy. Despite its small size, the buttons are well-sized and comfortable to press, providing a satisfying tactile response.Functionally, the Casio MS-80B is impressive. It handles all basic calculations with ease and accuracy. The 8-digit display is clear and easy to read, even under various lighting conditions. I appreciate the dual power option (solar and battery), ensuring it remains reliable in different environments. What truly stands out is the calculator’s user-friendly features. The large display and intuitive layout make it very easy to use, even for more complex calculations. The build quality is solid, reflecting Casio’s reputation for durable products.Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the Casio MS-80B 8-Digit Desktop Calculator. It’s a perfect blend of functionality, style, and portability. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable and efficient calculator for everyday use. This little device has certainly exceeded my expectations!

This calculator is simply perfect. The keys are large enough and also far enough a part to let my fingers fly.The display is large and clear, even to my over age 60 eyes. It has an off button which I like and it displays the name CASIO when it powers off, cute. This calculator is made in the Philippines and the quality is high like you would expect from a Japanese manufacturer.

Works very well, my only concern is the placement of the keys which were different from my other adding machine. It has me hitting the wrong keys, not their problem just mine.

Once you know how to set the % function (via YouTube) the calculator is very useful. 1- Press AC, 2- Hold Set % for 4 seconds, press Tax Rate Button, Enter the number you want to set the tax rate at. Hit the Set % button to store that value in memory. Now you just enter a number you want to either add or subtract that stored percentage value using the Tax – or Tax + buttons. I use this on my online sales amounts to figure out how much i need to sell something for after all the fees. Easy to read display – great contrast. Quick response on keypad. Cool OFF button that displays “CASIO” before shutting off. Highly recommended.

Works exactly as I thought it would. Cheaper than buying batteries for my old one that this is replacing. The finish is metallic, shinier than I thought it would be.

Yes, computers can do the math for you if you find the little calculator icon and then fiddle just a bit with the mouse or keypad. Yes too, lots of people like me prefer to keep a physical calculator handy. This is just the right size (I had a bigger one before). It takes up little space on the desk or in the drawer, but the buttons and the display are still pleasantly large. Modest price, but doesn’t look or feel cheap. Great product.

Nice basic desk calculator. Big enough to be able to easily see, read and use, yet small enough that it doesn’t take a bunch of space. The solar feature works fine and the battery life is very acceptable. I’ve had one for many years; when my wife took it over I purchased another for myself. Found no reason to change. Good calculator, great value.

This is a great small calculator. It is easy to use and works well. I had bought calculators from the dollar store but they seldom lasted past one use. Will add calculator to the list of things that I will buy at the dollar store.

Had to replace my old Cascio calculator which finally broke down after 9 years or so. With a track record like that, I decided to buy this Casio, overall same design, the only difference was that the new one had an off button. The display is easy to read and even the touch of the keys feel definite and substantial. This price (believe it or not) ) was less than I paid for my old one which I bought in a office goods store. Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for quality and accuracy.

I think this is my fifth Casio MS-80B. Not because they keep failing, but because through the many years we’ve used them, we’ve come to love this calculator. They are durable and last for years, but everything eventually wears out, particularly with four boys at home! The price is right, the display is easy to read, and the buttons have a nice spring to them. It’s a solar calculator, so you don’t have to worry about batteries. The solar panel is sensitive, so low light levels still make the calculator work great. The display is raised at a slight angle for easy viewing. There is a matching indicator in the display that lets you know which function you last pressed (e.g., addition, subtraction), so if you’re totaling your checkbook, you’ll know where you left off. There are other features that I’m confident I’ll never use, so you can check out other reviewers opinions on those. I purchased a second calculator as my wife has recently gone back to accounting and uses our other MS-80B. Suffice it to say, as long as Casio makes the MS-80B, that will be our go-to for calculators!

I don’t think I realized how much I relied upon my trusty calculator of the last 10 years until it finally died on me a couple weeks ago. Amazingly, It was just a cheap one, from a discount tool supply company, but I really liked it for it’s size, button style and ease of use. I first tried to replace the same model, but could only find it on a couple of obscure sites with outrageous shipping costs, so I knew I had to start fresh and find a different one. I also didn’t realize how ‘calculator-picky’ I apparently am until I started looking at all the calculators on Amazon. I didn’t want a small pocket style because both the buttons and display are just too small to use comfortably at my desk, but neither did I want a jumbo desk-size one because I also want to throw it in my purse for grocery shopping. This Casio MS-80B was one of only several I found in a mid-range size, small enough to put in my purse, large enough to use at my desk. It measures about 5 1/2 inches top to bottom and about 4 inches wide. There were a few other features I wanted, which I found in this model. I wanted one with either battery only or solar with battery back-up. I don’t care for solar-only ones because they tend to fade if the light isn’t bright enough, at least in my experience. And I wanted it to have an OFF button, which is strangely hard to find on solar/battery-combo models, I’m not sure why. Yes, it shuts off automatically after being idle (about 6 minutes with this model), but I personally like to shut it off when I’m done. Maybe it’s one of my OCD traits, but I can’t stand leaving it there and waiting for it to shut off. So this does have an OFF button. I’m also button-picky! I hate the kind with rubber/soft/grippy buttons that can be hard to press and are silent. I like to hear a little clicking and clacking as I punch in my numbers, and this has hard plastic buttons and a soft but audible tapping sound; perfect. It registers entries easily and consistently with a fairly light touch. One feature I don’t love, but will deal with, is the % use. My old calculator worked liked this: 30 – 10 (% button) = 27. With this Casio, that same scenario requires: 30 x 10 (% button) then – (minus button) = 27. Alternatively, you can hit the + (plus button) at the end of the same equation to add that percentage; meaning 30 x 10 (% button) + (plus button) = 33. Additionally, you can see the amount of the percentage before you hit + or -, in this example; 3. So it’s not a bad thing, it’s actually more detailed this way, but it’s a few extra/different buttons in the equation and it will take a little getting used to, but I’ll adjust to it and it’s worth it to have all the other features that are more important to me.Quick note about the orange buttons: C clears the last entry only, and AC clears everything. There is also a backspace button (the arrow button in the top row) that backspaces one digit, which is very handy. 1234 (backspace button) becomes 123. I’ve never had that feature on a calculator and I like it. It also shows commas in larger numbers, which is nice. I can’t speak on the memory buttons or tax features because I have no use for either and know nothing about them. It comes with a small pamphlet which I couldn’t fairly call a manual that does show some basics, but nothing very detailed.I saw at least one review that mentioned it wobbles and/or is unstable on the desk. I don’t find this to be true to any bothersome extent. There is a SLIGHT wobble when I hit the OFF button only which is at the upper left corner, but by then I’m shutting it off so who cares. The wobble may vary on each calculator made, I can’t say, but for me it’s not the least bit bothersome. The display numbers are fairly large and the contrast is excellent. The overall look is nice, with a brushed metal back panel on the front and a sleek design with a fixed tilted display. Other than getting used to the new way of using the percentage button and the lack of a decent manual, I really have no complaints, and I’m admittedly very picky with calculators. Oh, one last thing to mention: Apparently the photo for this model used to appear incorrectly, based on many reviews I’ve read. The model I received was the same as what was shown, which is Casio MS-80B. You can confirm this by looking at the model # on the unit pictured to make sure it’s correct, but Amazon has apparently corrected whatever wrong model used to be pictured.
