I have similar testers that do not have near the wire length this one has. That feature itself makes this more useful then other similar ones I have used. This also has additional features that a budget circuit tester does not have. At the current $26 price point this is extremely handy tool to have on hand for auto, boat, trailer, etc… wiring diagnosis. Quality item, no complaints.

This circuit tester is strictly for DC testing, so it cannot be used for AC or home use. The clamps connect to the car battery and the probe can check any wiring or switches in the car. The cable is almost 15′ long, so it will reach pretty far. It does not have a battery in it – the power comes from the car battery connection. The probe is sharp and able to puncture wire casing to test the wire.

I got this circuit tester to use in my home shop. I LOVE the long cord – 15′ from the tip of the probe to the alligator clips and that it can be used to power up circuits for testing purposes. The green light does not shine very brightly – it can be seen, it’s just not very bright. Otherwise, it does what I need it to do and beats hauling a multi-meter around! Five stars!!

I previously have only the typical “test probe” with a -very short- ‘lead cable’ that I used to test fuses and check connections and terminals around my cars, but aside from checking circuit fuses located in the fuse box near the battery in engine bay; I almost always needed to extend the lead cable to reach taillights or other terminals farther away inside the cabin or below dashboard using a flashlight to spot the work area.Now I have this affordable, simple test probe, that is several steps forward in convenience and versatility to do those tasks, as it came with a nice 15 ft of lead cable length, allowing me to reach all spots in and out of the car, as well as including voltmeter capabilities and a useful LED and sound for continuity test. To complete the features, the probe tip comes with a built-in flashlight that is very convenient when you have to test those hidden connections in dark spots as behind and below the dashboard. I like this tool, now I can do all of these measurements, tests and diagnostics easily, with just one hand, making it a lot easier to find electrical system problems in my cars.Overall, this is a good, affordable and essential tool that should be part of the toolbox of any DIY and garage mechanics. I would like that this testing tool would have come with a case for storage, but aside from that, it has a good value, is simple to operate, and can be used in a wide range of electrical diagnostics, making it super practical. This is a tool that you miss when you don’t have one, and love it when you do. I especially love the built-in voltmeter which can help discover when a wire is corroded, etc. Love it!

This tool is excellent to have for testing electrical components on a vehicle. I was able to diagnose a bad fuel pump using this. It’s very handy to have and the price is low compared to a power probe brand device. This is just as good and will have the same results. You should have one of these in your tool bag if you work on cars.
