his does have some resistance or is terribly inaccurate at low voltage. If checking a 5volt reference, it will read 3 volts every time. I double checked with my fluke multimeter and power probe. Seems ok above 10 volts.

Great tool, gives you easy to read voltage readings as you pierce the wire!Works as advertised ,would recommend to any auto tech or novice alike!

I’m an automotive and disel mechanic and I wish I would have bought this type of volt tester year’s the screen is easy to read and saves a lot of time finding the problem compared just a light bulb probe.

I am helicopter mech. this is great for 28 v systems . Seems the display is fine but all the springs and end cap solder looks bad . lots of minimal contact crimps / tin to wire springs cause it to go intermittent , the coil wire is the quality of clothes line wire . If i did it again I would pay a few bucks more for the ” better ” model .

TIVE ground, not POSITIVE ground. and on 13.7v, the light is pretty dim. This is one of those “have the designers ever used a test light before” products.Easily half of the diagnostic work I do involves hooking the clamp to a positive source, and using the probe on the negative. sometimes your looking for a good ground, other times you have a + and a – wire, and don’t really care which is which for the purposes of testing for voltage. This unit DOES NOT operate if the clamp is attached to positive. So for you with positive or floating ground equipment, this will flat out not work at all. It doesn’t light up, and it doesn’t display anything on the LCD.Additionally, while the LCD lights up reasonably well (though angle of view is poor, as other reviews have noted) (tested with +13.7v), the “light” part of the test light is pretty dim. And can’t be seen from the back of the probe body at all.Bad enough that I’m going to have to buy something new to use as a primary test light, and toss this in the back of the drawer as a backup.Astro Tools – you guys screwed this one up. 🙁

Terrible Product. Only worked intermittently and then stopped working completely. the connections inside the handle were not stable..did not make good contact. I took it apart because I really wanted it to work because I liked the concept, but it was impossible for the contacts to make a good connection. Very cheaply built.

t product Had a few issues that I was able to fix myself.I fitted a bigger and better clamp as well I had to repair and make secure the cable where it goes into the top. Now it’s a 100% product .

What a nice tool that makes circuit testing a quick and easy process! The flexible cord makes for effortless use. One stays in my toolbox at all times.

d isn’t super accurate, but I wanted it more for the … I had been hoping to find one of these for a while. I work on circuits from 5VDC to 48VDC, so a normal 12VDC test light might not always work. The voltage displayed isn’t super accurate, but I wanted it more for the light and approximate voltage anyway.

I think that this is a good tool, but with two shortcomings. One of these can be addressed but the other cannot. The issue that can be addressed is the physical connection between the wire and clamp. It is just folded over and crimped. (See the picture.) There is even a hole there for it to be soldered in place. I went ahead and soldered mine in place and would guess that those reviewers that had issues the wire came loose and was no longer making a good connection. I checked several items at different voltages and it was spot on with this probe. The other issue is that you have to be pretty much looking at this directly in order to read the LED. If you were working in a tight spot and needed to read the voltage this could be an issue. For my needs though this should work nicely.Overall I think this is a nice tool but would recommend soldering the wire to the clamp to ensure a good solid connection.

So took a chance on this because the snap on version of this is around $90, works good to a 10th of a volt, reads the same as my snap on multi-meter. Backlight is nice for working under a dash or low light. Only four stars because on the display the numbers kinda disappear if not looking at the right angle, can make it difficult to read in tight spaces. As others have said the rubber over the clamp is stiff, but I just slid it up the wire past the clamp since it is just a ground and doesn’t need covered.

I purchased this to troubleshoot a wiring circuit on my wife’s car. This took worked wonders and I was able to determine the wiring was good and the computer needed to be replaced. This worked great for my purpose.

Perfect for what I needed. Checking to see which fuse is live and dead when vehicle is off an running with a clear digital read out. Great product and great price.

Nice tool for quick read on DC voltage. Like the fact that it reads 3v – 48v ! When i really looked at it, noticed that the wire was just crimped ontoclamp. Pulled out the soldering iron & made a more positive connection, but that’s my own preference. The boot that covers the clamp is a little stiff, but no big deal. Clamp looks like it is cooper plated, the wire is not cooper. Over all it’s great for getting a read on power to fog lights, radar detectorradios, tail lights, fuses, ECT…
