I liked that the shelves are sturdy and can be easily set at different heights for shelving containers and totes. The locking casters make moving heavy storage easier when set upon the shelves. They are sturdy and there is no sagging. I like it! Don’t hesitate to make this purchase if you need shelving it’s a Great product for the price.

A sturdy, industrial-look wire shelving unit. Chances are good you’ve come across these racks before, but if not: they’re popular because they’re easy to assemble tools-free, very minimalist, and designed to transfer load into the floor so can hold a lot more weight than you’d expect. This one is very similar to older ones I’ve used, but the fit & finish is a little better, the directions clearer, and the parts better labeled. Nice smooth finish, no flaws or rough spots. It has self-leveling feet and the tops are smooth cap. Not much to improve here.Very simple assembly. The larger versions would benefit from two people to lower the shelves onto the poles exactly level, but for the size I got (36-inch wide), it’s an easy solo job. Just follow the directions and make sure the plastic pieces are seated and not sliding on the legs.No tools are necessary other than a mallet to fully lock down the shelves onto the plastic brackets. Similarly, you’ll want a mallet if you want to take them apart.Other thoughts: Like almost all metal shelving, these can be loud if something bangs into a shelf. Dragging the shelving unit through an empty room is a whole lot of noise. There is a pleasing lack of excess packaging (no foam inserts or similar wastefulness). The last step with the mallet is really optional but does ensure you pushed the shelves down all the way on the plastic brackets.Only real drawback is that small items have to go into a bin or box, and items without a smooth bottom won’t slide cleanly over the wire shelving.Well made, well-priced, and if it’s like the ones I’ve had before, nearly indestructible. Very useful and thus Highly Recommended.

I finally got up the courage to tackle our neglected, chock-full storage unit in the terrifying basement of our 100-year-old building. These shelves were the key to the project — they’ve added so much extra space through the wonders of good organization! We put everything together in about 20 minutes. It helps to have a second set of hands for when it’s time to drop on the shelves. Manageable for one person, but lots easier with two. The clips that keep each shelf in place are easy to put together but, like lots of others have said, they don’t join perfectly. They don’t need to be perfect, BUT the unit will be more stable and the shelves more straight if you get the clips together well enough that the round hole in the shelf can slide down over the clip at least partway. I’m fairly sure the shelves are meant to slide over the clips and not just sit on top of them. Our went about halfway with guidance but not forcing or pounding. The joining process happened better for some clips than for others. A few pairs just didn’t want to fit together, and we generally solved that by just trying a different combo. Think of it as speed dating for plastic clips — most of them have a decent match, but it might not be the match you’re currently trying to pair!Once they were together, the next big step was trying to find the right storage tubs to fit the shelves. I wanted boxes that were big enough to hold most items but small enough that they wouldn’t get heavy. We set up our shelving unit so that there are 3 tiers of 15” shelves and then a larger level on the bottom. With that setup, I found that Sterilite 15 Quart Latching Stirage Boxes are a *perfect* fit. They fit six to a shelf, three across and two up. They do stick out just slightly past the shelves, but not so much that it looks wrong or would cause any inconvenience. See photo for reference.Overall, highly recommended. For the price, these are reasonably heavyweight shelves and they look really nice.

Kudo’s to Amazon Basics and the manufacturer. Packed well, with all the parts and even a tie back to wall (to keep the lawyers happy), a spare clip too in case….As described, and about an hour to assemble; I have done close to ten over the years and they always give you hiccups. I would have liked the clear plastic shelf liners like you get from Sams which I love, but this unit was undamaged and as I said, well packed with no freight damage. The poles are 1″and the wheels are 4″ with two locking and it is polished chrome, not grey paint. I heartily recommend despite the price not being as good as the Clubs (but when looking for a particular size….!).😒 Tips: Assemble bottom legs with shelves, then add the top layer and make life easier. Put wheels on last (I did not due to shelf height location but intended to). The double lines to mark height increments can cause a clip location error if you do not watch it when locating a shelf on that double line. I use a baby sledge and a block of wood to “set” each shelf as I go up. Easier then trying to hammer between shelves to sturdy the build. Lastly, make sure you know which wheels will be the locking ones as is impossible to change after loading shelves, and unnecessary extra work after assembly.

I love how easy this is to use, and how much cabinet space it has returned to me. No longer do I need to fill my cabinets with various small appliances, now, I can store everything on this one rack, and roll it into a closet, out of sight, out of mind. Construction was very easy, with everything fitting together exactly as it should. One criticism with the packaging was the excessive amount of small plastic disks bouncing around in the box. not sure why they were in there, but the rack does not use them in any capacity. Overall, this thing rocks, and I’m very happy with the purchase.

These are great sturdy shelves. BUT you must do the following things to avoid a failed assembly1-The bottom /first shelf is the hardest/most awkward. Lay the 4 metal pole down on the floor and start assembly from there.2-You MUST click each black plastic “supporter” (8 pieces per shelf/2 pieces at each corner position) into place by clicking it into a groove on the metal pole. Each piece has “ridge” that corresponds to the groove. Each black plastic piece does NOT need to connect to its corresponding piece on that groove. They just need to click into place on that groove. Sometimes you will hear an actual click; sometimes you will feel a subtle click in place. Push down on the pieces after clicking in place —try to slide them down the pole. If you properly clicked them in, the black pieces won’t move!3-The shelf MUST be installed with the correct side up. Each shelf has a 1 inch tall “lip” around the outside edge of the shelf. The lip faces DOWN.4-GENTLY: slide each shelf onto the metal poles, catching all 4 poles, slide the shelf down to the black plastic support. Slide right over the pieces. Push gently. Push each corner down, to ensure the shelf is fully secured.

I’ve been hunting for a shelf to put my 80 pound CRT TV on, and that is a lot harder to find then you’d imagine, especially for the length and depth of the thing. However I found this thing for cheap, and honestly for the price, you could do a lot worse than this. The shelves are stated to be able to hold 350lbs, so for most everyday uses I can see this working. For my use it works fine. The Shelf itself is very wobbly with nothing on it, however once you put stuff on it the weight more properly distributes and settles, thus becomes a lot more of a shelf. Now even with only the TV on it it feels sturdy and I trust it enough. Empathies on the enough part.It holds the weight fine enough, I don’t see any issues. Although with me using apparently 22% of the total load for that shelf I’d hope it didn’t bend much. The Depth of this thing is honestly too small. It works for most things, like books, but for my needs it just does not go deep enough. If it was maybe an inch longer at 16-18 inches for depth instead of 14 then it would be perfect for my needs. Otherwise it technically works for my needs but not comfortably enough to where I plan to have it be my main shelf as intended. The shelf is also shorter than I expected, but this is all down to my warps perception of scale. If you need an example of the scale of it, it is a bit shorter than me by about a foot and a half. I am 5’10″Also when I received the item, one of the shelves (of the four included) was damaged out of the box. I can’t say I am too angry since I didn’t need the fourth shelf, however it is still a major issue. I’m sure I’m one of the few to get one like that however the fact it did happen is a problem. For 60 bucks (about what I got it for) you can do a lot worse for heavy duty shelves. Cheap and Sturdy do not typically mix, however in this case it seems that they have almost struck that balance.I understand these shelves usually all come from generally the same sources, but there needs to be more options for various storage spaces and various needs. It works for most, even works for me, but I will be relegating this to a second storage center as I order a shelf with more depth.I also did not put the wheels on it as I did not need to TV Rolling away from me. But I imagine they work fine, if not only recommended for lighter items. It was quite easy to assemble, almost deceptively so. To be fair, most of these wire shelves all set up in the same method but it was nice that at least the assembly regardless was as easy as expected.Shelves work, server their purpose, just not perfect, and not exactly what I needed. Even with it not being exactly what I needed it still has enough issues to mark off a star.

al, easy to assemble, good value. Overall a very good value. Its clean, chrome finish looks nice enough to display in a kitchen or other workspace, and it seems very sturdy thanks to a design that’s simple and efficient. I got the one with casters, and they work well. But I was glad the original leveling feet were included, in case we ever want to remove the casters later. Some reviewers provided helpful tips on assembly, and though I read through many, my own experience suggests that the design may have improved over time. For instance, the plastic sleeves that snap together as a pair over the circular indents in the corner poles stayed perfectly connected and in place when I lowered each shelf onto them, and there was no space left at the two seams where they connect. I spent no more than 15 minutes putting this together myself, and that was taking my time being deliberate and careful, reading the hardcopy instructions, confirming all parts were present, etc. I decided to put the casters on at the end, which was fine. Very satisfied overall, and would recommend reading other reviewers’ comments about precise measurements (didn’t much matter for me).

son I gave it three stars is because of the sizing and quality. Be aware this isn’t exactly 36L x 14W – They rounded it up to a whole number. I mainly got this because I like these kinds of shelves for my fish tanks and the original one I got was more expensive than when I got it a few years ago (have a Honey Can Do 36″ x 16″ shelf). This was option 2. When it came, everything was loose in the bag, the plastic cover pieces for the bars were all broken and unusable but I didn’t end up using them so they got tossed. When it was assembled, I noticed it makes this thumping sound when you move it slightly so been a bit wary of that. One of the welds on the bottom shelf had broke so I ended up using another shelf to this unit. Once the tanks were on, I noticed the top one seems to droop slightly and that’s made me a bit wary since it said it would hold several hundred pounds. The top tanks are 2 5 gallons and maybe weigh 50-60 pounds each when filled with all the supplies, so I ordered a wooden shelf to go below it for support which I now need to cut because it’s not the right size… It’s not great, but it’ll do for now until I can get another Honey Can Do.

e storage solution. I recently purchased the Amazon Basics 3-Shelf Adjustable Storage Shelving Unit and I have to say, I’m really happy with my purchase. The shelving unit is made of heavy-duty steel wire and can hold up to 250 pounds per shelf, making it a great option for organizing heavier items. The assembly process was a breeze and the instructions were easy to follow. The adjustable shelves are a nice feature, allowing me to customize the unit to fit my storage needs. The chrome finish of the shelving unit is sleek and modern, which looks great in my home office. With dimensions of 23.3L x 13.4W x 30H, the unit is compact yet spacious enough to hold my supplies and other items without taking up too much space.Overall, I would highly recommend the Amazon Basics 3-Shelf Adjustable Storage Shelving Unit to anyone in need of a sturdy and reliable storage solution. It’s perfect for organizing a variety of items, from office supplies to household items, and it’s a great investment that will last for years to come.

ave assembled scores of these type of shelves and this one was just as easy to undertake. I’ve always found that one has to be careful with the plastic clips to make sure they are not pushed off the poles when placing the shelf on them and really had no specific issues with this one. Just take your time and the plastic clips won’t fall off. The shelf when assembled was really high quality. The casters added nice flexibility as I was moving items from an existing shelf to this new one (which combined two smaller units into one) and this value cannot be overstated. I had to do much less carrying from one shelf to this one. I just brought the new shelf over and relocated the items and when the old ones were empty, I removed the old shelf units and rolled the new one in place.I do plan on buying another. This has made my computer workshop so much neater and more organized.

shelving. If you will look at the assembly directions before putting this shelving together, you should have no problem. The plastic sleeves that press onto the poles to support the shelves do not snap together, but are on opposite sides and stay in place with a ridge that fits snugly against the pole. When you ease the shelf down the poles, each corner slides down onto the pair of sleeves on each pole. The sleeves are tapered at the top and wider at the bottom so the shelf cannot slide past the sleeve. Tap each shelf with a small hammer to seat it. The 16 round discs that are left after assembly, were included simply to keep the shelves separated during shipping , and are supposed to be discarded. Unit comes with four heavy duty wheels, and also four adjustable feet if you don’t want to use the wheels. You can install the shelves on the poles at any heights that you want. A good, sturdy shelf that looks and functions well. Excellent value.

s-as best I can. Forget the instruction paper & do this:1. Unpack & lay out separately:a. Shelvesb. Chrome support poles(8)c. Black clampsd. 4 legs2. Find the 4 chrome poles with small holes in the bottom.3. Grab the 4 feet & screw them into the small holes all the way, then back them out about 1/2 way4. Holding one pole, look at the ridges on the pole. Determine how far fromthe floor you want your first( bottom) shelf.Keep your place there with one fingernail &5. Grab a black clamp. NOTE:it has RIDGES INSIDE & is marked TOP outside. Clamp it on the pole just above your fingernail & slide it down until you hear it “ snap”.Grab another black clamp( it’s mate) & clamp it to the other side. NOTE: they will not meet- that’s fine. Continue with 3 other chrome poles making sure your clamps are all evenly placed.6. Grab a shelf. NOTE: corner holes are flaredLook at your shelf. With the largest flared holes on the bottom( & the “lip” down) fit each shelf hole onto the support poles and slide it down to the black clamps. Make sure your shelf is level.7. Determine where you want your 2nd shelf, put black clamps there, lower shelf onto poles8. Grab remaining 4 chrome support poles. Look for threaded end and screw them onto the first set.9. Repeat clamp & shelf business til you finish.10. Secure shelf to wall with provided safety hardware.I hope this helps.

sembly will be easy the NEXT time. This would be easy assembly IF the instructions were better. And very likely some people cleverer than me will say that it is easy and that I must be stupid not to have understood the instructions. All of the puzzling parts seem clear in hindsight–you make the mistake and when you figure it out you say “oh, that’s what they were trying to show.”Although theoretically no tools are needed, I found it really helpful to have a rubber mallet–for partial disassembly to fix mistakes, for changing my mind about where to position the shelves, and for snugging the shelves in finally. At first glance, it seems as if they are using ridiculously flimsy plastic pieces to secure the shelves. The plastic pieces fit together to form a short seemingly-cylindrical tube. The shelves have a short seemingly-cylindrical metal collar that goes around the plastic tube. It certainly looks as if the shelves are symmetrical and could go either side up.They aren’t, and they can’t.Both the plastic pieces and the collars are actually slightly conical, smaller on top. The plastic pieces need to go right-side-up, which is clear because the word “top” is molded into the top end. The shelves also need to go right-side-up. The indication here is a little square notch in the collar. The shelves go with those notches on the bottom. The pictures are trying to explain that, but this is a case where a word would be worth a thousand pictures. If you don’t get it right, the plastic pieces just pop off as soon as the shelf settles on them. The right way around, everything is perfectly easy. The nested cone shape of the collar compresses and forces the plastic pieces snug around the support poles. It doesn’t help that the instructions are printed rather small. But the real problem is that an arrow pointing to a notch just does NOT communicate the idea “the shelves need be oriented with this notch on the bottom.” Not to me, anyway.Otherwise, it seems like a pretty good product and I plan to order another set. This one was not easy to assemble, but the next one will be.

I may have an addiction to these ‘Amazon Basics’ shelving units, I just bought my 6th one! I started with the butcher’s block/microwave cart unit and was thrilled with it. Then I discovered the tall 5-shelf unit and bought one. I liked that so much I bought 2 more of the tall ones. Then I bought this short 3-shelf unit on Prime Day and got so excited about it that I went back and ordered a second before the sale was over.So let’s get the assembly “controversy” out of the way. I won’t attempt detailed directions here, but I hope you’ll trust me when I say these really are incredibly easy to assemble. And they’re perfectly stable and sturdy once assembled. Any review that says these are crazy difficult, or “won’t stay together” or that they “wobble” etc have all assembled them incorrectly. Please consider that I have bought SIX of these now, I’m a pro. I can assemble these small ones in about 8-10 minutes leisurely, and the tall 5-shelf ones in about 15 minutes each – and that includes time for me to ponder ideal shelf placement! That’s at a relaxed pace and there is zero frustration. Now, I will admit that I was initially perplexed on my very first unit for a few minutes as I fumbled around with the black connectors trying to make sense of them. I too thought “this thing is junk” until I realized I was not realizing how they work. Once I understood the simplicity of it, the rest all flew together with ease and are actually fun to assemble. I could quite literally assemble these with my eyes closed at this point.Watch the videos which should help. But generally: the connectors come in 2 halves that fit together around the pole. Be sure to look for the arrow pointing up so you have them upright. Also look INSIDE for the little ridge lines, this is super helpful. Those lines line up with the single lines on the chrome pole. I actually place them just above the chrome pole line and slide them down until I hear/feel them click into place. The two halves fit together but with a slight GAP. Meaning that they do not close together entirely. They stay in place but will look slightly separated – this is normal! Do not try to force them to fit together tightly, they aren’t intended to. When you push the shelf (lightly, there’s no need to force it) down over the black connectors, it wedges them closed a bit more. This is by design so that the shelves aren’t loose and popping up; they stay in place nicely. Also keep in mind that the black coin-like caps in the box are packing scrap and can be tossed out or repurposed but are not parts for the unit. Lastly, the edging on the shelf goes DOWN. They are NOT lips to hold things on the shelf. You might be able to make it work that way, but it’s not meant to be that way. Just know that if you’re having a hard time with any part of putting these together, you’re doing it wrong. I can assure you, I live alone and have no one around to give me a hand, so I would never buy SIX of these units unless they were super easy to assemble, because I am not a very patient person. These are stable, strong, hold a ton of weight and are extremely versatile, which is why I love them so much. They go with just about any decor style. I have two of the tall units as pantry shelving and a third tall unit in my art studio. I came up with a creative way to use these small 3-shelf ones by putting a 6 foot x 18″ piece of plywood over two of them (one at each end with a space in the center) which serves as a sideboard/counter and/or deskpace area in my rustic kitchen where I can roll out bread dough or sit down to pull up recipes on my laptop, etc with baking supplies on the shelves underneath. The leveling feet are handy too. My ONLY complaint is that the prices on these fluctuates dramatically, so I tend to wait and snag one when I see them on sale. I’m considering getting one for the bathroom (towels etc) and maybe even one for off-season clothes storage. They look so classy and nice and the storage and organization they offer is fantastic. These units are some of the best things I’ve ever purchased on Amazon actually.

    l. I’m leaving this review through my mother’s account, but I purchased this myself for my room :)I work at a pet store, and I was apparently luckier than most of the other reviewers of this product because my job left me with prior knowledge of how to actually assemble this thing. Because of this, I generally had a pretty easy time putting it together! (Note: i did have help from a friend, I am short and there are a lot of larger pieces that I probably wouldn’t have been able to get on there without assistance)First off, I noticed a lot of reviewers were having trouble with the plastic bits, saying they wont click together. I’m gonna save you some trouble and let you know right now that they AREN’T SUPPOSED TO. The instructions dont make this fact clear (in fact, they dont really make anything clear. I already know how to assemble this thing and I was STILL left confused by the instruction manual for a solid 10 minutes), but they’re not supposed to meet because once the tube part of the shelf slides over it, THAT’S when the two pieces are supposed to connect to each other. So basically, don’t worry if the two halves of the stupid plastic thingies aren’t completely in contact with one another, just make sure they both click into place on the bar.Another complaint I saw in the reviews is that the shelves aren’t sturdy/are kinda loose. Again, an easy fix that the instructions never tell you how to do, because Amazon wants us all to suffer. Luckily, my coworker explained to me how to fix this when we set one up in the store. Basically once you’ve got your shelf where you want it on top of the plastic bits, you’re gonna wanna grab the nearest hammer and smack those shelf corners until they fit snugly on top of those stupid little plastic inconveniences. By then, HOPEFULLY, your shelf should be snug and sturdy, and your plastic things should be in contact with each other and holding your shelf in place. It’s only been a few hours, but I’m incredibly happy with this thing! I can keep all of my gecko supplies in one area, and now neither of my tanks are on the floor, AND I was able to upgrade my youngest gecko into her new 20 gallon now that I had enough room for it 🙂 I stress-tested the shelf prior by sitting on it and standing on it and it didn’t even bend 😀 and obviously, the ones we use at work are just as sturdy, and are what encouraged me to buy this for myself! Overall, this product is pretty great once you figure out all the stuff that the manual conveniently leaves out.TLDR: This thing is great if you already know how to assemble it, but if this is your first time building it then read some reviews of how other people did it because the manual is VERY vague lol(And for any gecko care nerds out there: i know the red lights suck, im switching off of them soon. I promise my babies are spoiled. And the unlit 10 gallon on the bottom right doesn’t have a gecko in it lol, that’s an empty one that my youngest just moved out of)

I was looking for storage units to create a pantry but everything I found was not the right size or if it was, the shelves were not adjustable. I found this unit and I loved the amount of weight each shelf held but I wanted the shelves to be closer together and I needed 8-10 shelves total. I searched all over the web to see if I can get extra shelves for this unit but didn’t find any, so I decided to get 2 units and use whatever shelves I needed for one unit. I figured that most likely I would’ve paid more than $50 for 3-5 extra shelves, so for $100 I ended up making one awesome pantry. I used just 8 shelves and stored away 2 shelves and remaining poles. (NOTE: each leg is made out of 2 poles that gets screwed on top of each other so you can actually create 2 shorter units out of one unit)The unit is pretty sturdy but it’s a pain in the but to put together by one person. The shelves are held up in place by some plastic pieces that you have to connect and snap together in each corner and then lower the shelf from above on these pieces. The plastic pieces are marked with an arrow and the word TOP. Each pole has markings/indentations 1 inch apart all the way down. You hold 2 plastic piece together and place them around a pole, arrows pointing up, holding them together ABOVE the line on the pole where you want the shelf to end up. Holding the 2 pieces together and by sliding them down they end up in the indention on the pole at the level you want them to be. When they end up on the indention you’ll hear a click and that’s how you’ll know they are locked together in the right place. Count to see on which indention you are on that pole and place the other pieces at the same level on the other 3 poles. Now, 2 things you have to know about these plastic pieces:1. They would not close together fully, meaning you might see a bit of a space between them.2. They stay put but when you lower the shelf you will have to hold each one in place and guide each corner of shelf’s hole over them because if you don’t do that and you hit one of pieces with the shelf they would snap open and you’ll have to remove the shelf and connect the piece that disconnected from the pole. It would’ve been better if the plastic pieces were open only in one side and closing fully when snapped together. What I ended up doing was placing a piece of tape on one side of the plastic pieces (making one side like a door hinge) which made it easier for me to put the shelves over them. If I was hitting one corner by mistake the pieces would not snap off and fall down completely but stay on the pole giving me a chance to close them pretty quickly without having to remove the shelf anymore. At first I put tape all the way around the pieces but the tape was adding thickness to the pieces and they wouldn’t fit in the shelves’ holes. So, I tried tape only on one side and that worked. After all shelf’s corners are places over the pieces, you will have to push down on the shelf, at the same time on all 4 corners to lock the shelf in place evenly. So, with all that said, the units are pretty nice. The plastic pieces need some design improvement. If they were designed better this unit would’ve been a breeze to put together. One thing I have to mention. I had room for a 46″ or 48″ W unit but that size unit was too deep for my space (I needed 12″-14″D unit and the 48″W they sell on Amazon is 18″-20″D). So I ended up buy this 36″ W unit even though I was not using 10-12 inches of my space where I was planning to place the pantry. I made plans how to arrange baskets on each shelf based on the listed measurements. A lot of planning went into this since I had to consider how many baskets I needed and how much that would cost, finding the right size baskets etc, etc. Only after I ensemble the entire unit I found out that the 3 baskets I initially wanted to place side by side on each shelf would not fit and I was baffled not knowing why that would be…. Well, the unit is 36″ W, meaning the shelves are 36″ W but because the ploles are designed to be part of the shelves they take up about 3″ of the shelf. From one pole to the other you have 33″ width and because of that I couldn’t use the baskets I needed to use and had to rethink the entire pantry, cost, sizes of items etc. Because of this unforeseen issue I lost a bit of space in the spot where I placed the unit (keep in mind that I could’ve used a much wider shelving unit to begin with) and I’m bumped about not using the space to the max as initially intended. I wish I knew about these details about the measurements before I made my decision to purchase this unit. The measurements were a very important part of my decision to purchase these units and they were not an easy item to ensemble and dissemble to send back to Amazon. Although my pantry turn up nice, I had a lot of headaches rearrange everything just because of the unknown measurements. After founding out that the shelves were not as wide as I expected them to be, I couldn’t find baskets to fit so I ended up using Flat Rate shipping boxes from USPS (which are free, you can order them online or pick them up at a local USPS location) that I had to cut to size and covered in shelf/drawer lining. Not fun at all :(I would recommend this unit for it’s sturdiness and price but buyer beware: you will have to spend some time putting it together if you don’t have a 2nd person to help you. And, I hope you read my review if you’re planning to use the the unit in a specific way where the exact measurements are a must to know before hand.I finished my pantry by covering the back and sides with a stiff plastic shower curtain, and with a fabric shower curtain for the front part.Another thing I need to mention is that if you need to slide something on the shelf back and forth (like I wanted, a box to be pulled out and put back) the shelf’s front is a bit higher and the item on the shelf will sit a bit lower and the edge will have a bit of a “lip” so you’ll have to lift the item up a little at the edge to get the item over the “lip”. I didn’t like that, so in order to make the shelf smooth front to back, I came up with the idea to put cardboard on the shelf but a bit smaller than the shelf so the thickness of the cardboard when sitting on the shelf away from “lip” will come up at the same height with the lip, thus making the shelf same level from front to back. I needed 8 cardboard pieces long enough and very inexpensive. I bought 2 moving boxes 18″x18″x16″ from Menards ( about $5 with tax for both) and cut them lengthwise in 8 pieces. They were the perfect fit. To make sure the cardboard didn’t move when pulling my boxes out, I taped the cardboard in each corner from underneath. Problem solved and it came out nice. I hope all this info might help someone who wants to use this unit for a pantry.Pictures:1. How the unit looks with the cardboard on each shelf2. Work in progress, how the flat rate boxes look after I cut them to the size I needed to be3. How the unit looks from the back with the plastic shower curtain covering the back and sides4. How everything looks and how the unit looks like with 8 shelves on it5. I ended up finding some baskets that were perfect fit and blended well with the flat rate boxes. I didn’t like the baskets’ colors much but I had no choice, I made them work :)6. How the flat rate boxes looked like after covering them in shelf/drawer lining I got at Dollar Tree store and label them too 🙂 Also, on the shelf with the 2 green baskets, in the back of the shelf I used a lazy susan I had before to be able to easily access my tomato paste cans.7. Final product. Front covered with fabric shower curtain that’s easy to pull up to one side (see picture #4 to see how it seats on left upper corner). On top of the unit I places 3 foldable rectangular boxes (from Menards $6 ea) that I’ll use for very light items (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins etc). To make sure all weight is distributed ok and unit stays in place first I made sure feet were leveled properly (the unit had screws at the bottom of each foot so you screw and unscrew each feet to level it properly to an uneven floor). Second, I secured the unit with velcro and plastic cable ties to the railing thats on the back of the unit (the unit comes with ties to secure it to walls but I used my own ties)Third, I placed my heavy items on the lower shelves (cans, sugar, flour, oil etc). And lastly, I placed my light items (mixed in with some light weight ones) on the upper shelves and the top one.8. I needed more light so I found this light that has a magnet on the bottom and a hook to hang anywhere. I can move it on any shelf, (standing up, sideways, etc) and have my hands free when I pull out a box/basket etc. It’s awesome. I know, too much info, sorry 🙂
