  1. Customer Review

As expected, another quality Southwire product! Though a bit more expensive than your generic mass-produced electrical testers, this tool feels solidly built, is easy to use, and properly triggers GFCI outlets through a button press. The LED read-out is bright and clear, and actually helped me troubleshoot an open ground on one of my office plugs! Spend a bit more and get the higher quality Southwire product!

This has been a valuable addition to my home maintenance toolkit. The device is compact and easy to use, with clear instructions that made it simple to test all the outlets in my home.I found a couple of outlets that were wired incorrectly, which I was able to rectify thanks to this tester. The readability of the results is excellent, with distinct lights indicating the status of the wiring. It’s reassuring to know that my electrical sockets are now safe and correctly wired. While the tester is generally reliable, I did find an outlet that was ungrounded, and the device didn’t indicate this.. However, this was a minor issue, and the tester worked flawlessly for the rest of my home.Overall the tester is a great first reference for anyone looking to ensure the safety of their home’s electrical system. It’s a must-have for DIY enthusiasts and homeowners alike.I hope this review helps! If you’re considering purchasing this product, it seems to have a strong reputation among users for its ease of use and effectiveness.

cost. Only real complaint is that I was hopping the lights were LEDs and therfore a littl brighter, but for the price is is bright enough and works perfect. The GFIC tester is a nice thing to have.

sential electrical tool. Got this to trouble shoot an outlet in our home. Works great, durable construction, and super simple to use. Just plug it in and read the lights. Legend is printed right on the device to tell you what you’ve got.

se Electrical Work. I had to replace all of the GFCI outlets in my house (see my public profile for more details if you are curious, amazing GFCI outlets) and I bought this tool to ensure they would be wired correctly and function. There is a little button on the front which causes a ground fault, to test a GFCI. It worked like a charm and showed me each time if I had made any mistakes. I’m glad it did, as I had actually switched around one of my outlets but fixed it later, thanks to this device. In all, it’s a fantastic product for a fantastic price. I have no complaints whatsoever and think it is the perfect addition to an electricians toolkit!

. So having just replaced a flaky since we moved in over 20 years ago gfci receptacle in the garage (due to loose wire, but also it turns out due to the top plug-in failed when the plug was plugged all the way in), I wanted to be sure everything is now okey-dokey out there. And it is (checked all the plugs inside the garage and outside). Before that I had also tested all the plugs in the master bathroom (aok) and in the kitchen (aok). Also unfortunately I had tested the guest bathroom plugs. It turns out the only (2-plug) receptacle in there did ground fault when tested, but there is no reset button… so now there are no usable plugs in the guest bathroom. At least the lights and fan in there still work. And in this adjacent bedroom I am in, which shares the same circuit breaker, or so I thought. Hmm… where oh where is the reset button (or breaker (nothing looks amiss in the breaker box))?Edit: Following up, I found out that the guest bathroom and the master bathroom (and all the house’s exterior plugs) are all tied to the one gfci plug set in the master bathroom. Also figured out what the two kitchen gfci plug sets were tied to circuit breaker wise, and which other plugs went with which gfci plug (not all of the kitchen plugs it turns out are tied to either of the two gfci plugs). So my mapping of all the plugs and light switches for the entire house is now (even more) complete, helped along by knowing which ones are protected from ground faults and which are not. Great investment. I feel a lot safer.

Absolutely flawless receptacle tester that is childlike-easy to use and performs exactly as described and intended.* Includes a button to also test GFCI outlets as well as standard 125V outlets.* Simple light indications advise proper outlet function or issues* The unit will show outlets that have bent interior connections when initial indications show no power but do when the Tester is wiggled. (Replace the outlet!)* All light error codes are listed on the unit itself for easy reference.Perfect, small, yet highly effective and affordable Receptacle Tester. Clearly an easy FIVE STAR rating along with my honest and hearty recommendation…especially at the tremendous value price on Amazon.Test ALL the outlets in your home or office. You may be surprised!!*If you found my review helpful to you, PLEASE let Amazon know by clicking the “HELPFUL” button below!
