Good dark rosin, perfect for cello and viola (don’t use it for violins, they need a lighter rosin unless you’re fiddling). If anything, it needed a little scratching before use.

Threw it across the room a couple times to check and the rosin survived untarnished. Also the bottom of the guard being magnetic is a very nice touch.

I’ve used it but I can’t discern if any of the rosen is actually attaching itself to the violin bow’s horsehair.

I ordered this the day before and it arrived the next day. Applied it to my daughter’s new bow and it worked great. The violin is her great grandmother’s and she wanted to keep the tradition alive, but the rosin it came with was no longer usable. The local music stores wanted an absurd amount of money so I went to find one on Amazon that had a high rating. It arrived well packaged and uncracked. I would highly recommend this if you’re just starting out and needing a budget rosin.

  7. Brian Peterson

I got rosin with my violin and it was hard and trash. Had to scrape it just to get the rosin to activate. This Rosin worked without any extra fiddling with (pum intended). Highly recommend

I didn’t have to break or crack the rosin for the bow! Value for money.

Nice packaging and great rosin. You can’t go wrong with it. It is of very good quality at this price even if the difference is more or less slight between a more expensive rosin.

I’ve been playing violin for many years, and I’ve always just had rosin in a little wood box that it came in. I recently broke my rosin. I live in a small town with nowhere to buy any violin accessories, so I did a search for rosin online, and found this wonderful grip! Oh I love it!! It keeps the rosin from getting on my fingers or hands, and the rubber grip is comfortable in my hand. It’s an excellent find! I will use this seller again to find more convenient, handy violin things! Thank you!

Ever thought about taking a violin bow to your guitar strings? Neither did I, until I did. And let me tell you, it’s like finding out your coffee machine can also make perfect pizza. Sounds bizarre, tastes incredible. Here’s the scoop: I took this violin rosin, typically the trusty sidekick of violinists far and wide, and introduced it to my guitar via a bow. Yes, a bow. It’s like deciding to ride a horse to work instead of driving—unconventional, yet surprisingly majestic.Applying this rosin to the bow before serenading my guitar strings has been a game-changer. The rosin acts like a motivational coach for the bow, giving it the grip and friction it needs to pull soul-stirring melodies out of the guitar. The result? Notes that sing with a clarity and resonance you just can’t coax out with traditional plucking or strumming. It’s as if my guitar has discovered its operatic voice, hitting notes that vibrate with an emotional depth I hadn’t unearthed before. And here’s where it gets fun. There’s a certain rogue pleasure in cross-pollinating musical techniques, like a mad scientist mixing elements to create something new. Using violin rosin on a bow for the guitar feels like breaking the rules for all the right reasons, turning every strum into an experiment that ends in an auditory feast. So, for those adventurous souls who dare to bow their guitars, this violin rosin is your secret weapon. It’s the passport to a new realm of musical expression, where guitars don’t just strum or pick; they sing with the soul of a string quartet. In the end, this violin rosin and my guitar bow have formed an alliance that’s nothing short of revolutionary. It’s not just playing music; it’s about crafting an experience that’s as unique as putting pineapple on pizza—unexpected, a bit controversial, but utterly delightful. 10/10, would bow my guitar into musical bliss again.”

To me, it’s better than the rosin only on the cloth. When in the “box” with lid, less breakage if dropped.

My 5th grade daughter decided to learn how to play the violin and needed this for her bow. I hoped it would make her sound like a concert violinist, but I was sadly mistaken. It did, however, really help the bow not scratch as much and has made me not regret the decision to let her be a violinist this year. Win win.

  19. Valentyna Zhudina

I am quite impressed with it, very good quality. It is not too sticky or too slippery and comfortable to use. What’s more, the delivery was right on time, which was really convenient for me. I would definitely recommend this rosin for any violinist looking for a high-quality product that delivers on its promises. All in all, a great experience and a great product.

You could spend a lot more for rosin, but unless you’re first chair for a major symphony why would you? Nice quality, inexpensive rosin with not much dust residue.

Well hello, string maestros! Time to have an honest heart-to-heart about D’Addario Violin Rosin – Cello Rosin – Natural Rosin Violin, Light. Let’s set the stage, shall we?PROS:1. Rosin Royalty: Folks, this rosin is like the butterfly that flutters from the caterpillar of every violinist’s or cellist’s initial sound struggles. It grips the bow hair like a prima ballerina during her solo performance, making every glide smooth and every note resonate with clarity.2. Natural Is Neat: This light rosin is as natural as Mozart’s talent. No synthetic monkey business here! Feel like a conductor of nature’s symphony with this eco-friendly product.3. Compact Charm: With the size of a gourmet chocolate truffle, it fits in your case or pocket like a charm! Easy to carry, easier to apply!CONS:1. Flaky Friend: While performance-wise it’s a cheetah, it flakes like a layered croissant. One swipe and it’s snowing in the violin case!2. Delicate Darling: It may be light, but it’s also delicate. If you drop it, be prepared for a chaotic scattering of rosin shards! So, to wrap it up, the D’Addario Violin Rosin is like the Alfred to your musical Batman journey. While it’s flaky and a bit of a delicate snowflake, what it brings to your string performance will have you playing sweet symphonies and jigs in no time. Just remember, handle with care and patience – much like your relationship with the violin or cello. A solid 4/5 for this little gem and its adventures! Now, go forth and create harmonious melodies!

My young grandson has taken up violin. He was impressed with this rosen, as he said it was nice to hold while applying to his bow. I would purchase this again.

  27. Jason H Eggers

I actually purchased this as a hack to fix a worn out cord on a window blind. However, the rosin seems very dried out and I had to use a knife to get any rosin for my project. Perhaps a violin bow would be able pick-up more with several “strokes”, but it seems to me that it would also be rather questionable. If you’re looking for rosin to use on a regular basis, perhaps invest a little more in a better quality item.

It works well, but you need to rub it with sandpaper to let the powder actually stick to your bow.

I recently purchased this Rosin and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The rosin is made from high-quality organic resins and proprietary ingredients, which gives it a premium feel and sound. It’s easy to apply and produces a warm and rich tone that really brings out the best in my cello. I’ve tried other rosins in the past, but this one is by far the best. Highly recommended!

  36. Hector Rivera

This rosen is so fragile so you have to be careful. BUT this is the best rosen you will likely ever buy for so cheap. Sound is amazing. If you are a player he plays almost daily you it will probably take you 3 years to finish. To protect the rosen you should but the rosen guard and it also gives a rosen with it. For this price it is very cheap and very high quality.

y its cost. I was getting frustrated with the “premium rosin” that came with my newly purchased violin. After watching several YouTube videos, the instructions were to continue to apply the rosin until you could produce sound with the bow. So I kept applying and at one point, gave my partner to apply as well. I found another rosin on another rented violin. All to no avail! So I started watching more YouTube videos this time on what brand of rosin to buy. I was close to picking up one that sells for $38 here on Amazon. It was a lot of money and I was ready to throw anything at it to get sound out. I hesitated for a minute and looked up this D’addario rosin. Reviews were great but it was ridiculously cheap. I eventually concluded it was worth the try. In less than a couple minutes of applying this candy looking rosin, voila – sound pops on each string! Too good to be true but it is!
